The colors are dark and rich in this vintage framed print. Although it is not titled or signed, research shows it is titled the Madonna in Sorrow. The original of this was done by the Italian Baroque artist Giovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato (1609-1685). His name was Giovanni Battista Salvi, but he was often referred to as Sassoferrato, the town he was from, a common practice at that time.
It is in a wood frame painted with two colors - a black with copper or rust colored raised designs. The frame measures 11 1/8" tall and 8 3/4" wide. It has glass, a cardboard backing reinforced with tape, and a wire for hanging.
