The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

I have this great Art Deco 5 arm chandelier which I hope to list soon.

It truly has all the typical Art Deco Design details

- combination of geometrical shapes with inserts of flowers and leaves in brass

- stepped form

-spherical body

and last but not least a combiation of 2 different metals

I know one of the metals is brass

- the other metal has the color of pewter and is hand hammered on the center cone

and machine embossed on the 5 sperical half rings

The lamp is 60"round - including the spread of the arms and is very heavy

Can anyone tell me what the pewter like metal is?

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, there!  I would suggest that it is cast nickel, which was often used with brass in Deco light fixtures.

Thanks Mary

I hadn't even thought of nickel but that makes absolute sense.

I think in my description I will say something like "pewter colored, probably cast nickel metal"

That should cover it I think

Darn those typos - edited this post

but see all those I overlooked last night when I was tired

thanks for actually sharing this. it's very rare and looks so vintage. i just love the style. it reminds me of hinkley lighting items.

I think your description will be just fine!
