Hello all vintage lovers
I need your help about these Danish mid-century modern stainless steel trays with teak handles. Here is a link for you guys to have an idea what I'm talking about: link
I can see that there's a minor market for it on ebay and I can actually purchase a lot of these from one of my suppliers. The big question is if it's something you think people would buy?
Looking forward to your comments.
Have a nice weekend everyone :-)

Permalink Reply by MTippingAtelier-Admin on April 20, 2012 at 5:51pm Hi, Klaus! Well, I adore Scandinavian midcentury modern design, and I find it sells on Etsy for me. I, too, have several of these trays and I plan to list them, most certainly (probably not on eBay, though--the fees are too high for the price they would sell for) if I can get ever get around to it! I think these trays are very useful and sleek enough to fit into many decor styles, as well designed items always have:) I also think the trend is towards midcentury decorative arts, at least in my experience. So, to make a long story short, yes, in my opinion, I do think they will find buyers.
Best,
Mary

Permalink Reply by Out Of The Attic 2u on April 30, 2012 at 7:52pm I also have a few of these trays and am not sure what I want to do with them. They do make a good table setting for parties and more. I also wouldn't sell them on eBay, not for just the fees, but you would have to lower your price accordingly.

Hi Klaus-
Just my opinion but I seem to see these everywhere these days. On E-bay, on Etsy, and in secondhand/thrift stores. I am not sure how much you would be wanting to charge, but the market seems flooded. I have a bunch in my stock that I haven't listed because I am not sure if they will even sell. I would check recent sales for these trays on E-bay to get an idea (see link below). It seems to be if they are priced around $10 each they will sell. You will have to weigh whether or not that will give you enough profit to make it worth it. Just my two cents...

ETA - I do think these trays have a universal appeal and are very versatile, which is why I started buying them in the first place. I just wonder if the demand will be high enough. I didn't mean to sound harsh earlier.
Permalink Reply by Scandinavian Vintage on May 2, 2012 at 1:53pm Thanks for the inputs Karen. Well, that is the main problem when starting up a new e-commerce based shop. It's all about finding the good products that have some value and that people actually are demanding. My problem is that I have to use a lot of money on postal and packaging the items. I guess these trays are too cheap and if the demand is on the decline - well then there is no reason to sell it.
That is what i strongly believe is the main challenge in the vintage business - what is hot and what is not? That's why I've decided to supplement my vintage products with new products from a wellknown new Danish brand. You can see some of the products here in my facebook fan page. They create products that I know for sure is higly popular across the globe. Their products are brand new but have a great kitchy, vintage look - and that fits well with my other 2nd hand items..... I hope i can attract costumers who I know love these new vintage items and that they will buy my 2nd hand items as well :-)
@ Karen: I don't believe you were harsh, it's all about speaking the truth and thereby helping eachother :-)
I'd better get back to the boring Search Engine Optimization and reading about the world of Google Adwords.... Seems like there's a step I neglected too much when I started my shop.... Well maybe in a few months time sales will increase to a accepable level:-)
All the best from Klaus from Scandinavian Vintage
Wow - those new but vintage looking products are nice! I look forward to seeing them for sale - do you have another website where you will be selling them? (Never mind - I just found it from your facebook page.) I think those types of product will be in great demand (as are most danish modern type items - new and vintage).
I need to read up on Google Adwords, too (sadly I am not even sure what those are).
