On Tuesday we babysit our 3 1/2 yr old grandson all day and his sister for part of the day. Boy and I thought yardwork was tiring! LOL. Love 'em to pieces but when we got in the car to take them back its an "ahhhhh wooshed feeling". Well last night as we were riding, Mr Dominic threw something out the back window and I caught a fast glimpse of an object flying off the car with a thud. Hmm?? Both shoes are on and everything seems to be in the back seat that we started with.
First- grandma gives the Nature First lecture on what littering is and why we don't throw things out the window. Good discussion... I think the point got across with a little bit of matronly sternness. ;) But he gave no reply as to what it was and I was too tired to push it and too little time to go back and search the road. Thinking: if it was one of his little toys, too bad - gone.
So Wednesday morning guess what - can't find my cell phone anywhere. Even called it several times and places and no ringing. OH HORROR! Was that my cell phone out the window last night??? We have a standing joke that when something goes awry at the house it's always "Dominic did it" --with a laugh.
Gut was not laughing today.
So long story short after a full day of looking, walking the road (sore foot and knee included), agonizing etc etc, I asked my daughter to talk with Dom and try to pry if he had my phone in the car. Well after her coaxing, yep he did. And yep - that was my cell phone out the window. :(~
Here's the amazing happy ending - a woman in our area was biking down that same road tonight just before dark and found the phone. I had searched in the wrong part of the road. She sent a text to my daughter and daughter in law asking about the phone and my daughter reached her right away. After getting a call, I hopped in the car and met the "woman on the bike" at a local corner restaurant and got my cell phone back! WOW ... how cool was that!!
A big thanks to the rescue lady....
a big thanks to daughter for following up with me
a big thanks to Spirit for guiding me through the day
a big thanks for Mother Nature holding off on the rain last night
...and a grandma's big warm love hug to Dominic for his sweet apology that I received right after I got home again.
We all learned a little bit of lesson! I love it when life throws us these little events just for kicks and giggles!!!
