The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

First of all, hello everyone. *waves* I'm new here. I found The Vintage Village while searching for jewelry forums in the hope that someone might be able to help me date a Judith Jack brooch and pair of earrings that I have. I saw a post elsewhere on here where a member was asking about a Judith Jack ring and was told, upon emailing the company, that pieces without the copyright "c" are earlier pieces. I could not find an email address for the company so I thought I would ask and see if any of you are familiar with older Judith Jack jewelry. I do not think that this brooch and earrings are a set. The styles are different and the earrings have the "c" while the brooch does not, leading me to believe the brooch is earlier. Does anyone have any idea about these? Thank you!

I just have to reply and tell you these three pieces are beautiful.  So glad you came to us.  We are a great group and very helpful.  Someone will probably be along shortly to help you!  :-)

All the best,

Donna

Hi Ilse,

Welcome to VV!  I was the person who emailed Judith Jack:)  That was quite some time ago now but what she told me is that the older pieces did not have the "C".  Judith and her husband Jack Rosenberg founded the company in 1969.  Her logo hasn't changed much but the pieces after the mid/ late 1970s will have the "C"...after that, it's tough to tell - You can check her current stock and see if it's listed there but not being there doesn't guarantee that it's at least 20 years old.

Not much help I'm afraid...but the brooch is a gorgeous piece and quite valuable I would think.  I would try googling the various attributes of the brooch (along with Judith Jack ofcourse) and see if you can find a similar one...it may help with pricing and other info.

Good Luck!

Thank you!  I actually have someone who is looking to buy this and I'm trying to price it appropriately. I have alot of costume jewelry from my Grandma but really know nothing about it. I've googled everything I can think of and have not found a brooch quite like this! Looking at the older brooches there seems to be quite a large range of prices as well.

Hi Ilse,

I found 2 larger JJ brooches...this one to me would be in the same range as yours...no copyright (so it's older), large and detailed in design

http://www.etsy.com/listing/105527864/judith-jack-vintage-brooch-st...

This one is newer with the copyright and not quite as large...from a different shop

Hope this helps:)

Pam

Thank you so much! I was figuring about $125. Thank you for your help!
