DH and I had NOT planned to attend our usual Friday night auction, but we had friends who wanted to go and asked us to join them ... so we did.
The auction house was in a state of chaos. Their computer system crashed yesterday, and it was still not functioning. Their normal clerk was out. Their head ring person was out.
The auctioneer asked DH if he'd mind helping as a ring person (he's done so in the past a few times) ... so I visited with friends and spent money while DH worked. I helped clerk at the jewelry auction (which is held separately from the main action on the floor).
The line to check out wrapped around the counter and out the door. Everyone in line was friendly and cheerful, taking it all in stride. I mentioned to the gentleman in front of me in line that I had a shop on Ruby Lane ... and the woman in front of him turned around and asked me what the name of my shop was ... I told her "Charmed Life" and she smiled.
I had just met the "C" of C & J Vintage Treasures !!! We spent a while together in line chatting, and we both agreed that without The Vintage Village and the community we've found here, we'd have both been lost with all the changes on Ruby Lane ...
I'm so happy to have met a new friend !!!

It's awesome when it's so random. Anne of the Vintage Jewelery Boutique and I met last spring, we were both at the same show and will be again this month. I had already warned her that I looked nothing like my avitar (even when I was in my prime), she replied that's ok, I don't either. She was right she didn't, but she looked just fine as herself ! :)

Lora and I met each other for the first time, at the Cheesecake Factory in the King of Prussia Mall, and what a lovely time it was, indeed--we had a good chin wag! Turns out we live pretty close to each other, which is tres cool, and hope to meet again soon-- planning on it!:)

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on October 6, 2011 at 1:27pm Blueberry cheesecake is my very fav dessert. All this talk is....
Being online since 2002 I have truly come to see many dealers like old friends or family. Even sometimes support. It was hard to leave a few places because of it.
Talked to several on the phone many times. As many dealers have their own expertise I think it is marvelous some get to meet each other.
I know I do not look like my avatar but it is my alter ego. I certainly do not look like my models either.
I love being my own entepreneur though. Sandy

From one cheesecake lover to another;
When I'm in Chicago in April/12, maybe you could point me in the right direction
to find the absolute best. LOL

Swanky, I don't think I've ever met a cheesecake I didn't like, but The Cheesecake Factory in the John Hancock Building is one of my favorites.

There's cake?
Cute story: I had a group of people over for dinner. Included in the group were teaching assistants from the foreign language department at the university I was working at -- one from Germany, one from Argentina and one from France. I offered several desserts ... one of them a home-made cheesecake (of the baked kind, the good kind).
The young lady from France looked at me, horrified. She raised an eyebrow and said "You have CAKE made from CHEESE ???" (of course, with her delightful accent it sounded like "keck med frum chiz?")
Fortunately, a friend was fluent in French and able to explain it wasn't cheese -- like cheddar or swiss -- it was cream cheese and sugar.
Every time we have cheesecake, we now do our "Cake Made from Cheese" routine.
