Need big time help kodak closing and I can't find a replacement What are you using for photos?
Hi every one in super crisis mode. kodak is closing and so far I can only find sites that will edit like shutter fly and piscasa 3 but none that will allow me to connect my pictures to the shops or anywhere else on line. Already tried gimp and same issue you can't down load your shots from there. I have windows 7 and looks like it has to be able to connect in the library and can't be a share systems folder which all of those seem to be.
Really need help fast. what are you using to download to the shops? Losing my mind! appreciate any help asap. kodak shuts down july 1st.

Hi Shari - I apologize if my answer is not what you're asking, as I struggle with photos. I use a Nikon CoolPix camera. After I take the pictures, I download them to my computer. They go into a folder called My Pictures in Windows XP. If I'm posting a photo on Ruby Lane or TVV, after I click to download, it automatically goes to that folder where I can click on the one I want. Boy who would have ever thought Kodak would go out of business.

I use for Photobucket for extra photos that I need to upload say to ebay when it will only let me download one free one. It is super easy to use to add photos to listings.

I have only used Photobucket to store photos and not since they have made many changes. One can even crop and such there but with the RL feature not sure if necessary? ?

Interesting about Photobucket. Was just checking out their site. Do you find it easier to download from there rather than your computer? Any advantages or disadvantages? It would save computer space I guess.

Shari, I'm not sure what you mean by connecting your pictures to your shop, but I have a Nikon CoolPix camera, I upload pix to my PC and then edit them in Picasa. Then when I list an item in my RL shop, I upload the Picasa-edited photo to my item listing.
I've found Picasa to be good for my purposes.

Lisa - I'm doing the same thing you are. I really like Picasa - very user friendly. I don't store my photos in another location, just on my computer.

Pearl. Not sure if you were asking me but I have only used the photos on photobucket to put on forums and such. I also have a personal acct. for private photos to send to family and such. I have never used them to upload to any of the venues or shops I have been on. Not sure if you are able to or not?

I feel like maybe I'm not doing something right (so someone please let me know:)) but I have a Canon Power Shot that came with it's own editing software and that's all I use. Pics go from camera to computer, I edit them and then upload. I keep most of my photo files indefinitely but after a few years will delete all but one of an item. I love my camera...it's been dropped (numerous times), takes great pics and the software that came it is really all that I need....so I'm not sure that this is much help but I thought I'd offer my 2cents:)

I also use the Nikon Editor that came with my Nikon camera. The one thing it can't do that Picasa does is straighten the photos. That was the main reason I downloaded Picasa. I used to retake the pictures if they weren't straight but this is so much easier.

Thank you every one. Will check photo bucket. The big issue seems to be windows 7 that won't take shared system folder. was excited to find and set up picasa3 after realizing shutter fly was not able to connect to the Library, that is where the pic's have to be for me to find them to load into the shop and then same issue with piscasa 3 being shared system file. I can't get to any of those pictures to down load any where except maybe face book or with picasa3 goes into a goggle page to send to friends in email. Even that is no good goes through windows live as a file they can view for short period and no editing. Not what we need at all.
With Kodak, like your canon came with software that was easy to locate in it's own folder in the picture part of library. I have the Nikon software from my other camera and was shocked to find out it's also not recognized in the library. Can't believe how hard it is trying to find anything that will work. I may have the same issue with photo bucket if it's shared file, might not be compatible with the windows 7 library.
If so wow I don't know what I'll do. What a terrible situation. Think your doing the right things by staying currant with new teck and find yourself shut out of your own features. The clock is ticking and I'm running out of ideas.

I was desperate for a good (and easy) program to use to edit my photos when I got a new computer and my favorite program was not compatible with the new computer. It gripes me when that happens. I went out and purchased an inexpensive program called Photo Explosion Deluxe. It was easy to use and after cropping and sizing photos, I would put them back in the folder by using "save as" and delete the one I had edited. I keep all my folders on my desk top and try to keep them organized by naming them earrings, bracelets etc. You can open two folders and the pictures can be dragged or copied from one to the other. Every photo is titled such as "blue rs necklace & ers" with front, back, side, tag etc. If each set starts with the same front half of the title they are all together in that folder. I can go to desktop, pick the folder I need and the titles. If I'm not sure about the pictures I open the file and look at the pictures which are stored by name, not the numbers they download from the camera with. I don't mean to give brand names free publicity but I have a Nikon Cool Pix camera also and it is small and easy to download to the computer. It takes closeups of names on jewelry that is so small I can't read it but it comes out clear as long as you keep the camera steady when you take the picture. I'm not too steady so I use a very small tripod to keep it steady. I have it set up so that any picture I click on opens in Photo Explosion automatically. When something sells the pictures are deleted. I like to keep things simple and this works very well for me. This is long winded but I hope something in it helps.

I have a little digital camera and I just take my photos and download onto my computer (under Pictures) and have all my photos in an "Etsy" folder and then create individual folders within the large one. I use a thumb drive to then later transfer all of my photos from the computer for future reference, since these little devices hold a nickzillion photos.
