Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

Hi Everyone,

Possibly this info is out there somewhere and I apologize for the redundance, if that's the case:)

I'm wondering if, we (as RL Sellers) allowed to post on the RL facebook page and if so is there any kind of limit to often we post - I understand within reason - but I just wanted to be sure that it wasn't one item at a time, etc?

Thanks in advance!

Carmel - the reaction your family and friends had is exactly what I don't wish to happen.  I have had family ask me to sell things for them.  Some of them know that I had sold on ebay but do not know about RL, and I want to keep it that way.  LOL!  Sometimes it's difficult to explain to a family member that their doo-dad is not worth what they think it is.

I tried to create a FB business page a year ago, but they would not let me, saying that I already had a page.  I tried all kinds of ways to get around it, but finally gave up.  Until I saw people here began to talk about a FB business page, I thought it wasn't possible to do two pages.

I will look into it again.  Thank you.

Mine was all about the minimalists that felt I was using family as a resource.  It got ugly from their side and I just did not reply and then they blocked me which was okay because I had already quit using facebook.  It wasn't  all of them just a couple young people with less manners.  Sad to say those people are missing out.  I'm recycling which is what they really push.  I have to figure out how my husband set it up and I don't have him to ask.

Can someone out there please give me step by step instructions on how to post an item that I have listed  to the RL Facebook page?  After reading all of  your comments I have been at it for an hour now and can't seem to figure it out.  Thanks in advance for your help.  Karen

I have also been trying and can't do it.  I finally quit for the moment  out of frustration  Please help us both, thank you in advance

First, go to the item you want to post.  Copy the url of the item (in the window in the bar across the top of the page).  Go to the RL FB page.  You should see on the left something that says Post and next to that, Photo/Video.  Easiest is to just paste the url into the box under Post (right click on your mouse).  Then click Share.  If you prefer, you can select Photo/Video instead.  Then Upload Photo/Video and then Choose File.  It will let you browse to where you have the picture stored on your PC.  Then you can type in a comment and paste the url for the item into the comment.  Hope this helps!

I just did it and it worked!!  Thanks so much for your great instructions.    I could never have figured that out by myself.  I'm sure that these steps will make it a lot clearer to other people also.  Karen

I got my pic on RL facebook!  I can not find my old buisness page and my picture link and name is my personal page so I guess I have to build a business page.  When I went into the business page start up and select retal/shopping it wants a physical address.  Mine is a virtual shop.  Do I just not fill in and click to continue or am I in the wrong place?

Wish everything weren't such a challenge.  Oh well, guess that's life.

Carmel Collectibles:  I think I chose website / jewelry - that whole part has always been confusing for me...it seems that there is never the right combination for what we do...and with all of us out there on FB, you would think there would be:)

I put my town and state, that seemed to be sufficient.

I'm still having a problem getting my avatar to show up for my business page - I did the edit and it asked if I wanted to use Facebook as WhimsicalVintage, I clicked yes and it took me to the "take out an ad page"...still no avatar when posting.  So I'm using my personal which has the same avatar, just doesn't link directly to my business page...any additional help on this would really be appreciated...very frustrating!:)

Thank you I will try that.  You are so right  it seems everything is a challenge today.  I can't even get the baby day crib to go down.  Seems like I should go back to bed and try getting up tomorrow!  Oh well....

Hi Folks!

All good stuff --- just to confirm.

2 per day

If you include a link to an item the picture should show up ---- but sometimes it doesn't so scratch that one and try again. It is fussy.  You can also upload a photo from your computer to a post.

You can create groups for your facebook followers and then share only to a particular group so you don't send out stuff to people that aren't interested in receiving every little thing you posts. I have Family, Friends, Collecting Fanatics, Artisans, etc

You can use your personal or business page to share to Ruby Lane FB page. Doesn't matter which.

Ah...I am sorry. It all can be so frustrating at times. Cannot help you with the page or the crib but one possible things is there

are many youtube videos about FB fan pages and you may find one that will help.

FB keeps making changes and the one sure thing I know about it is to check your privacy setting consistently and especially everytime they make changes.

At the end of March they made major changes with the business pages. I do not even remember where I went originally to set up my fan page there.

I hope the rest of the day gets better for you. Sandy

Interesting Carol. Does one have to use a different email address for a group spinoff of the business fan page?
