I did not see an ongoing discussion about this, so here it is.
I'm hoping Carol can explain how this is going to be paid to the shopkeepers. Will it be a Paypal credit? I do hope it will not be a shop credit; I'd rather have my money go to Paypal where I can use it as I see fit, than to have my money tied up in a shop credit that may or may not be needed for each month.

Nice to know it was not just dismissed and sure hope anyone else with concerns will send them in too :)

I am the one who removed the International Shipping info. The info I shared was incorrect. I will be back with the last info I received.

Permalink Reply by San Marcos Art Glass on February 9, 2012 at 4:41pm I have to say that I welcome the gift card. It was a great idea and I like the way it is being implemented. About half of my shipments are overseas, so there is a large postage outlay initially. But the money is coming back, so no worries. It will take a little longer to get paid, but my way of looking at it is it may have created a sale that wouldn't have happened.

Permalink Reply by CheriShops - Admin on February 9, 2012 at 7:20pm Anita, there was a time when it would not have phased me either to pay out high shipping costs and wait to eventually get paid back....but times have changed, and I know I am not alone in not having the kind of budget (nor desiring to use credit) to pay for expensive shipping and wait weeks for reimbursement. I operate strictly cash only for everything, and I keep funds to operate my shops completely separate, so to me, this is an important issue.
I do get quite a bit of international business so this is relevant
Permalink Reply by The Old Grey Mare on February 13, 2012 at 9:43am Good morning everyone! I wanted to let you all know that I had a purchase using a gift card. There was a balance due to me after the gift card was applied, and they chose to pay with Visa. It all went very smoothly, it was very clear on the purchase order that a gift card had been applied, pointing out the balance due, all simple to understand. The item has been received and I can finalize the order at any time. I'm not going to just yet, I'm trying to decide between putting it in my PayPal account or leaving it to fund my shop at the end of the month.
Hope it's a great week for everyone! The Old Grey Mare

Permalink Reply by Gardenartus Antiques on February 13, 2012 at 10:41am Ditto Cheri and I think that applies to a lot of shops. I really love the gift card idea and it is very welcome but there are pertinent issues that need to be addressed. I don't like the idea of having to wade through a bunch of red tape After the fact would much rather have an idea and some kind of guidelines letting us know what to expect if issues do arise with a purchase especially for international purchases.

Permalink Reply by Ruby Lane on February 13, 2012 at 12:06pm I also purchased an item using a Gift Card. It went splendidly. I received my item on Friday and I love it. The shop owner was pleased with the Gift Card purchase.
