Skim Links

Hi Everyone... :)

Just wanted to let folks know that we have added an extension to the site through Ning called SkimLinks.

Skimlinks is a way for us to earn money via links within the context of the entire site.

The software, once activated by Ning, searches for words and terms that can be converted into a product link associated with Skim Links Merchants such as Ebay, Amazon, Kmart and so on...

If SkimLinks finds a word that can be turned into a link it will turn BROWN. We only get credit if you click on the link once. This prevents folks from scamming the system and clicking a million times to earn credits.:)

We are not talking a lot of money here but it's enough to help us earn money without having to raise our Premium membership fees or advertising fees. :)

As required by the FTC we need to disclose this information to you. I have placed the disclosure button where it can be seen by all viewing the main page.

All you will see are words that are brown because they are now live links within the content of the site. You can choose to click on them or not... :)

I have also added an Amazon search bar which works on similar principles. If you have any issues or problems with this let me know here in this thread...

I think it's an excellent way to mitigate the cost of running the site.

I tried to pick a way that would not be splashing obnoxious ads in everyones face. I tried Google ads a long time ago but they were so intrusive that I had to get rid of it. I would rather see vintage shops advertize on the side like we have then see giant ads for glasses or camera's something. :)

This way all folks will see is a little old link that will go away after they click on it once.

I too wonder where she got so smart. I also wonder where she manages to pack all that information into a human brain without a staff of geeks working for her ( I know there is NOT a staff of geeks)....well done fearless leader...keep it up!!

lol.... but I do have a geek on staff... in fact I married him ! ;) Great benefits...

Now if I can just teach him how to make Etsy treasuries..... hmmmm
