The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

This Saturday marks the 34th Annual Circulation Day at Christ Church Unity in Rochester NY.  So what's the big hoop de poo?   Everything is always free!  Members donate tons of household items, clothing, books, dishes, shoes, you name it ... and we put it all together in Rummage Sale style out in the church parking lot.    Then at 9am  off it starts to go.

If you are around the Rochester area, come on over and mull around.  You never know what you'll find!

Wish I was near there!  Am I understanding correctly--everything is donated but you do charge people for items they buy, right?

Nope......... :)   Everything was donated by members of our Unity group.  During the sorting days we "kind of" group things together, sort and hang clothes, box shoes, box up glassware, gather pictures etc etc.  Then Saturday morning at 8 a.m. we set up the tables in the church parking lot, roll out the racks, unpack boxes that we can and stuff those 12 or so tables.

After a group moment to gather ourselves, give thanks for our never ending blessings and abundance we say:  We're Open!

The crowd that had already gathered rushes in and it's all up for grabs.  No money ... just smiles smiles and more smiles!

We had one woman who had "lost everything" in her apt recently and it was so cool to see people helping her to find clothes and stuff she could use.  Kids have a ball on the toy and stuffed animal tables.  The books are always interesting and always disappear.

One gent came with a shopping cart!  He'd been there in years past.

This year - even with all the quantity we had - we were about empty by 11:30 a.m.!   At the end of the event, whatever is left is donated to the AmVets and a truck comes by.  We actually felt bad that this year we didn't have as much to give them.  But, as always, they were very thankful the the boxes of clothes that they did receive.

At noon, the Unity members all shared a fabulous lunch made by some of our members and just sat in amazement at how fast the morning went.

It's a once a year event at Unity and wow - what a day it is.  After an evening of recovering from all the hard work - I have to say that today feels just a little extra special ;).    Giving freely  is such a rewarding feeling!

Wow, that's terrific!  Sure makes it a lot easier to run the sale and what a great feeling knowing that you've helped those who really need it.
