The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

Tom and I were lucky enough to be given two tickets to the Antiques Road Show next weekend in Eugene Oregon.

I'm wondering if any of my fellow Vintage Villagers have gone to the Roadshow...if so, what did you take...

I have a couple of thousand items in inventory, but nothing seems to jump out and say "take me".  Tom has a couple of sculptures that have been in his family for 3 generations.  He's taking those and hopefully we'll find out something about them..

So, any input will be greatly appreciated.  I will be posting to my facebook page and here as we start our big adventure...

I say take the most unusual item you have..... :) Can't wait to hear back... hope you get picked to be on TV!!!! Woo Hoo!! ;)
Well, that's what I decided...we've been watching the Road show, current and re runs...it's the weird stuff that gets the most interest...
Have fun and wear comfortable shoes!  I had tickets to the last one in Seattle but couldn't go :-( so I gave the tickets to a good customer and they had a great time.....but, there were long lines and a lot of standing around.  I'd take the most unique or rarest things you have....or that one piece that has always puzzled you.
Yep...that's the advice I'm getting from all over.  We bought little 3 legged stools to carry.  Most comfy shoes packed.  I got an email today and they advised that the line for art appraisals was the longest and if you brought art, be prepared for a long wait.  Tom's items are unique...I think he stands a chance.  I know it will be fun..

Congratulations. How exciting. I have always wanted to go.

Closest I ever got was David Lackey gave me an appraisal on a Satsuma bowl once in Houston at another show.

Very nice man. I love and watch Antiques Roadshow.

Take what you think would be most expensive you are not sure of and see how close you were.

I know...I usually have a piece of Orientalia to ask about, but I'm just plain bewildered what to take.  I have less than 24 hours to decide, so I better get on with it....

My husband and I have tickets too!!

Last time we went, I wasn't in the biz yet.  I brought a vintage camera and vintage hooked rug.

My husband brought two paintings.  We found out that we couldn't retire by selling these things,

but we had a great time.

This time we're bringing some vintage sports memorabilia that I can't find any info for.

Some of it is quite unusual. We're also bringing an antique print and vintage painting.

I agree with Lora-bring the most unusual piece and/or something that you can't find any info about.

See you there : )

Yayy!!  Two Vintage Villagers!!  We have unusual.  I found a piece of jewelry I want them to look at, Tom has his sculptures from his grandfather and I have a great piece of art nouveau pottery from Germany...I won't post my pic here, but my pic is on my facebook page....so you know what I look like, you can say Hi!!

:) I'm following this with great interest Carolyn! What a nice experience for you and to have another VV member there as well!!

Enjoy. Looking forward to hearing all about it and hopefully seeing you on the TV show :0)

Cheri

You bet!!  I'm going to "TRY"  and take pics.  We've been told that pics are only allowed in certain areas....I'll also try and keep a bit of a post going.  I think I'll keep it right here on TVV...I'm comfortable here ...

This is so exciting! Do either one of you have a video thingy in your phones? You can even upload a short video here and write a blog about it! Then I can tweet and post this thread to FB... :)

You two have to meet up there!
