Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

Hi Everyone,  well I had my first sale on eCrater. Yay!  But....not going so well.  First it is from the UK and I have never had an international sale show up on Pay Pal in Euros (is this how it works with eCrater?).  After I convert the amounts they are way off from the selling price and the shipping matrix did not pick up the correct weight evidently and only charged 1/4 of the cost to ship.

To make matters worse the patron asked me to send the item as a "gift" on the customs forms which I clearly state on my homepage I will not allow.

So I figure I will ask if they are still interested then figure out how they can pay me more to cover shipping?  I'm not looking to have my first feedback be negative.  I'm not sure eCrater is going to work for me:(

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi UK is tricky, first of all in preferences there is a place where you can select to have pay pal do the conversion autocratically, do that. to get things to balance print out the details or look at it and on the bottom some where of the conversion part it will list the exchange rate that they used, use that do do your conversion and it will come out. good luck, it is a pain but the sales are nice

No I think you were suppose to do something there either at ecrater or paypal. I don't ship internationally on ecrater, except to Canada, Alaska & Hawaii. I would ask on the ecrater forum about that and also ask paypal.

Hi Penni

there should have been a conversion from euros to $ on Paypal? If I were you I would call them (payPal) to sort it out. Also, if it to one of your allowed countries then it should have calculated shipping, not used the matrix? The matrix only kicks in on the off chance that USPS shipping is glitching or down, and then it should charge exactly the amount that you have designated there

Remember if the sale looks like you are going to lose out, you can cancel it and refund the customer through PayPal

Have you looked at Bonanza.com as a possible selling venue? depending on what you are listing, it really seems to work well for some sellers and if you like the social aspect, it is a very chatty place too :)

Congratulations on the sale.  First, you must promote your items on ecrater (and most other places) in order to make sales.  Start with the Promote link at your main page.

Secondly, make sure the Global editor is correct.  This is how I have mine:

It looks like it will convert if I accept the payment, I had never seen on Pay Pal where I would accept or deny a payment for international.  I sent an email to the buyer asking them to decide if they are ok with me not falsifying the customs forms ( I didn't quite put it that way).

Thanks, I think I'm going to hang in there-Geez look at all the help I get from all of you!

Hi I couldn't find the place in pay pal to make the change but I did find their number call them, Support: 1-402-952-8899. Never ever mark an item gift. that is mail fraud and you could be arrested. if the person gives you a neg because of it send the ecrater company and ask that it be remove because it was a request to commit a crime

Thanks, I did just that.   Thank you for looking into it for me! Here is what they sent me:

Here's how to convert your balance to another currency:

1.     Log in to your PayPal account.

2.     Click "Profile" near the top of the page.

3.     Click "My money."

4.     Beside “PayPal balance,” put your mouse over “More,” and then click “Currencies.”

5.     Enter the amount you want to convert under "Currency Exchange."

6.     Select the currency to convert the funds from.

7.     Select the currency to convert the funds to.

8.     Click "Calculate" to see the currency conversion.

9.     Click "Review Exchange" to transfer the funds.

10.   Click "Exchange Currency" to confirm the transfer.

Yep, I have lost many sales in upholding my integrity regarding filing the customs forms correctly.  I imagine I will lose many more.

but it is worth it, look at the AGGRAVATION AND EXPENSE IF YOU GET CAUGHT NOT TO MENTION JAIL TIME. CAPS STUCK

Thank you for that info!  Can you tell me how often I should check and change  those conversion rates?

Click Options

Next page, check enable gbp and Au currency (this will enable ecrater to auto adjust for you):

Enable Inventory Control
Set List View as Default
Enable GBP currency

Enable AUD currency

Check,check and check!  Thanks Meryl.

On another note under the "Google AdSence" page I get this message:

Your account has been disabled due to violation of the Google AdSense Terms and Conditions.

Abandon this and associate with another AdSense account

What ever did I do wrong? I am clueless.  Any ideas?  I do not even know what this means

Do you use Google AdSence?
