Christmas In July Sale on Etsy

Has anyone been following the business discussion on Etsy about having a Christmas In July Sale there? http://www.etsy.com/teams/7722/business-topics/discuss/10419351/page/1

I had already planned to do this so it is nice to have a tag to use--at least on Xmas items. I think it would be nice for all us Etsy on VV to join this sale. You can have whatever kind of sale you want but we can all promote it on our Page here on VV. Maybe do some Treasuries, etc. Anybody else think this is a good idea? Of course I was new on Etsy last year and didn't do it then but I'm slow on Etsy so will be happy to promote any of my items for some sales. Comments please.....

i always do this promo and tag CIJ. actually get lots of sales too. i sell vintage supplies and evidently this is when artists & crafters start creating for next christmas. burlap ribbon and foil millinery leaves sold very well last year.

i did not tag any regular non-xmas though... anybody tag their vintage items that are not xmas related ? how did they do?

Good question. I was only going to tag my Xmas items that I let expire from last season. New things and my regular vintage stock i was not going to take the time to tag. Lots of workand then have to un-tag!

I FAV it!! You did great! Couldn't get in thru the link in email but found it in Treasuries on Etsy!! Maybe we could all do some? I will do one this week--too hot to be outside--and I will use something from your shop, Val. Then maybe we can 'play it forward' that way. Starts next week everyone--please join us. None of us are perfect treasury makers--we would never have time to sell if we were! There are lots of stuff on Etsy for this promo and etsy has a page to help folks too. http://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2012/from-etsys-merchandising-desk-july... Pass this on!

Hey everyone!! If you haven't joined the Christmas in July Sales frenzy you still have time! Sales are already started in some shops but the main thrust starts next Thursday the 12th. Tag your items CIJ. And remember--you shouldn't put CIJ or SALE in your title as that will keep you from being found in Google search. Use as Tag only. And I found while looking for TVV team items for a treasury today that we are not tagging our items with TVV Team!! Only 900+ items came up and so many from the same shops--so get going!!! Promote us!

As a rule, I've been against the Etsy on Sale site because I feel that it takes business away from the main site....but I broke down and gave it a shot with my CIJ items. I will say it was a pleasure to use and they tag all the items for you, so thats a nice bonus and when the sales over the tags are automatically removed. Ironically, I've had a boost in sales but not on the CIJ items!lol...go figure...I think the added exposure helps. Not everyone who goes to the On Sale site buys the things that are sale when they get to your shop....at least thats my theory:)

Also I've been tagging TVVT (which may have been our old tag, I'm not sure)...I'll try to update some listings with the TVV Team tag

According to the team's about page - the tag is "TVVTeam", no space:)

Question....what if you are part of several teams? I am of 3. Do you add all the tags? Not in the title but the tags section at the bottom????

I put them all on separate tag lines. Does take up tags tho!! Maybe someone else has a better way. Thanks to Wimsy!! I had a space in my tag. Tho now I have to go change them all--time consuming! That's why I didn't find too many. But their sure is a bunch of us that have the tag wrong! I do not understand Wimsy's remarks about the Etsy Sale site or about Etsy removing the tags CIJ and we don't have to do it??? That confuses me. I never heard of that. Anyone else??
