Like the new search as a customer. Wondering if it is harder for the seller behind the scenes?
Thanks. Sandy

Permalink Reply by Waalaa on July 10, 2012 at 5:12pm We probably can't see it because we are signed into our shops - we might be able to see the new search if we are not signed in. That is probably bad news, though, because if you as the public can see it, then it is probably going to go widespread on the site soon. I personally don't think this is a good thing for sellers :( That being said, sometimes they tweak things that are not quite right in the beginning and they end up working out all right for everyone. :)
For anyone interested, here is a link to a discussion about it on the Forums...

There are several other discussions there too if you are interested in reading further :)

Permalink Reply by WhimsicalVintage on July 12, 2012 at 11:51am The new search is up! Now we're all on the same page, so to speak:)
One search bar for everything...I like it, I think..it's really too early yet to tell but I did notice a boost in sales this week, so possibly it's a very good thing. As Sandy had it early, I'm going to assume that may shoppers did as well.
Whether you're searching a shop or an item...just type it into the box
For example, if you search WhimsicalVintage...all of the shops with descriptions/titles come up on the page but under the search bar it says, "Did you want the shop WhimsicalVintage?", which when clicked on, goes directly to my page.
Play around with it, get the hang...and post your thoughts:) I'm sure some will see things that others don't, so this is a good opportunity for us to share what we find and how to work with it.

Thanks. Sandy

Permalink Reply by CheriShops - Admin on July 12, 2012 at 12:30pm yes it is up, and so far I think I like it......
but no, Sandy, there is no difference at all from our end in shop maintenance

Permalink Reply by WhimsicalVintage on July 12, 2012 at 11:54pm Yep...I used it all day and I really like it!
LOVE it.
default search is now everything not just handmade.
WT is a "back-room" ? i have one of those?

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on July 17, 2012 at 6:31pm where you see all the stuff the public does not. It is called a backroom on the site I am on. Sorry.

Permalink Reply by CheriShops - Admin on July 17, 2012 at 6:32pm lol Valerie I think Sandy was referring to what shops on Ruby Lane have, known as a "back room" where one can hide items from public view if desired...I guess it would equate to setting an Etsy item as "inactive"
