What is The Vintage Village?

We are a Community for like minded people, a Resource Center for the field of Antiques, Vintage & Collectibles, and a Promotional Selling Venue.

Think of us as an online Community Center and Shopping Mall in one... :)

How and where can I buy the items I see here?

When Viewing items in the Slide Show, The Photo Gallery, The Express Lane or when viewing a Diamond Club Members page, simply click on the picture or title and it will open up, providing you with a Link to a Venue, or other information allowing you to purchase the item. You can comment, ask a question, and send the seller a message.

Can I sell my AVC items here?

Can I sell items less then 20 years old here?

Yes. To sell items less then 20 years old (non vintage) join Vintage Rising.

Is there one main area for information?

Yes. Find All Instructions, Payment areas and more in the Member Info Center

Can I control what e-mail I get here?

Can I do a search for items?

Yes. You can search by Category or you can type key words into the search box on the top left corner of the Gallery that has a magnifying glass icon next to it.

Is there an area where I can have private discussions with other sellers?

Yes. Shop Keepers Corner is a private group where you can talk about business with your peers. Anyone with a shop can join. Request membership to be approved. As a related post please read Being Diplomatic in the Workplace

Who do I communicate with if I have a question about the site?

There are many ways to get the help you need. The Member Info Center is your starting point. You can also contact staff members indicated by the word Admin after their name. Or you can use this handy thread Mentor a Member

Why can't I see the slide show on my mobile Smart Device?

If you are using a mobile smart phone or iPad type device, sadly these types of devices do not allow users to view anything that uses Adobe Flash. HTML5 is a system that allows it, but Ning has not developed the internal application for this yet. You can research apps that will allow you to use the HTML5 on your device. Here are some Tips on how to do this.

What is the best way to keep track of it all?

Ning provides an Activity Feed so members and non members can follow what everyone is up to. The activity feed is located on the main page on the left side. Go HERE for details.

How can I invite people to the site?

You can copy the url and paste it in a variety of places or you can also use our invite feature that accesses your email contacts. Or tell folks to simply search for thevintagevillage.com

What do I do now?

In short... explore & have fun doing it! :) In addition, we suggest that you bookmark our site and write down your password. The best page to bookmark is our Landing Page a.k.a. the Main Page. This is our virtual Lobby. You can access everything from this page.

What aspects are Free?

A Personal Page called "My Page". You can customize the look and add information about yourself. Info HERE

What is a Premium Member a.k.a Diamond Club Member?

Premium Membership a.k.a. the Diamond Club, is for Sellers of AVC, so they can promote their items. Details HERE

What Does the Service Provide?

The Basic Premise of our service is to promote your shop by Socially Networking and using other various methods to spread the word about the site as a whole. The goal of our service is to drive an increasingly steady stream of traffic to our site, increasing your visibility as a Seller. A portion of your fees go to Advertising in a variety of ways. As the seller community itself grows, so does our traffic, thereby bringing your shop and items more views.

What specifically does The Vintage Village do to get my shop seen?

Not only can you use our Village as a Social Networking "Hub" ... here is a list of all the ways we network for you saving you time and energy. You can network on your own of course, but when you belong to a site that networks as a group, simply put, there is power in numbers.

Terminology

What is Ning?

Ning is the name of the platform we host our site with. Ning is a Content Management System that allows you to select from various features to create all kinds of communities, like our Village here.

What is a Forum?

Forums are where members discuss various topics. We have several Forum Categories to help you when trying to find a specific topic for your discussion. Each Category has a description and rules. Click HERE to see them all.

What are Threads?

Threads are discussions with a string of replies creating a thread. Replies within a thread are chronological. When viewing the details of a thread, you can click on several areas including going to the last reply and clicking on who began the thread, and clicking on the thread Category without opening the thread. You open the thread by clicking on the title. Once you are in the thread, you can use the Social Networking features to link it to your FaceBook, Twitter & Google + accounts to name a few. You can also "Like" the thread and see how many times it was viewed

What is an OP ?

This refers to either the Original Post or Poster of a thread.

What is the Slide Show?

A Slide Show is an automated continuous loop of pictures. The Slide Show can be viewed two ways, the Main Page and Full Screen. They show the 100 most recently loaded pictures to the site.

What is the Gallery?

The Photo Gallery contains every picture within that system. Each picture is an item that is for sale.

What is a Leader Board?

The Leader Boards are fun feature that uses an algorithm to track the most activity. We use this feature to reward Premium Members with a FREE AD on FaceBook.

What are Sponsors & Affiliates?

Sponsors pay a monthly fee to have Button Sized Ads on the right side bar, that is visible on every section of the site giving them the best exposure to the public. Affiliates are websites that exchange links with us in some regard.

What is AVC?

AVC is short for Antiques, Vintage & Collectibles.

What is My Page?

Your "My Page" is your corner of the Village. If you are a seller, consider it your virtual Shop Window. Add links to FaceBook, Twitter, Pinterest and more. Customize the look, make it unique.

What is the Tab Browser?

The Tab Browser is a set of Tabs that allow you to navigate to different areas both on and off the site.They appear on the top of every page. Some Tabs also have "Sub" Tabs like the Visit Us tab.
