I have already notified RL via email (Live Chat was not responding), but I would like to share this matter with other RL dealers to see if they have had similar situations—or to at least let them know they exist for future reference. Here is the email text:
There are still performance problems on Ruby Lane site. It takes an inordinate amount of time to process new listings, as well as to clear or otherwise manage items and transactions. And just this morning I discovered an email from a new customer to whom I had specially recommended the Ruby Lane site that informed me of the following: “Something is wrong with the Ruby Lane website tonight. It's acting really weird. I like your piece "Quinto" I could only look at one picture of it though. Ruby kept freezing up on me. I'll look again tomorrow.“ This is very concerning, particularly since I do not know how many other potential buyers have experienced these issues, but said nothing and simply gave up and moved on to another website.

Permalink Reply by TheVintageAdvantage on February 2, 2012 at 9:42am Hi Nancy:
I would think these issues still go back to the upgrade to Cloud and new servers. We never had these types of problems before that event. Ebay is such a massive site that it is inevitable that things go awry from time to time. But I have always found eBay to work smoothly and quickly for the most part. Not that I recommend eBay for anything but browsing for steals!!

Permalink Reply by CheriShops - Admin on February 2, 2012 at 9:46am yes, it has been ongoing for some of us since the migration to Clouds.
It takes me a very long time to do what used to take a few minutes and has honestly made operating my RL & RP shops very frustrating....but I am just plodding along and hoping Tech/CS will find what is causing it and get a fix for it
Permalink Reply by Nancy Clark on February 2, 2012 at 10:36am I can't say that I have had problems since the migration. At times it was a little slow loading but seems to be a little better now. What do you all think about the gift card thing?

I had been having problems with the new RP site loading, so I contacted the CS dept. I am using windows XP and IE8. Got an answer today. CS told me this....
To overcome potential compatibility issues as browser versions change Microsoft installed a feature in their browsers called Compatibility View. It allows users to display Web pages in another mode. You are viewing Ruby Plaza in Internet Explorer 8, but with Compatibility View turned 'on,' which causes the page to render to you as if you were using an earlier browser version, Internet Explorer 7.
Turn Compatibility View off to correct the display you see. You can turn it off in Internet Explorer 8 by clicking the Compatibility View icon to the right of the address field at the top (the icon looks like a torn page).
To make sure a particular website will not always automatically display in Compatibility View each time you visit it, go to the Tools menu -> Compatibility View Settings to see if it is listed there. Use the Remove tool to edit the list, if necessary. Also the check boxes at the bottom should not be selected.
I did as suggested, and voila!!! it was fixed! I had tried turning off and on the compatiblity view in the drop-down box earlier with no change. I think that clicking on the "compatibility view icon" was the trick. Don't know why??
Anyway, thought you all should know in case you too are having problems.

This was a reply from Linda of CollectiblesRome on the Ruby Plaza board.
Possibly TheVintageAdvantage you could ask your friend to see if this would work. I am just curious and do hope it is ok to post this here as it is on the RP board but possibly overlooked.

I will also say I have seen a marked difference via sales since the change on my RP site for sure.

that issue that CollectiblesRome was referencing is very different from what we are referring to here...she was talking about the appearance and format of the home page, while we are talking about shopowner functions on both RL & RP
In my case CS/Tech are aware of it and know it is a real issue, and working to resolve it for me, but it appears not to be an easy fix, so still ongoing

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on February 2, 2012 at 12:16pm Thanks Cheri. I just saw performance issues and thought it may be relevant.

Permalink Reply by Alley Cats Vintage on February 5, 2012 at 3:58pm I've got pictures that are not loading. I assume it is a problem on the site. It happens on many of my listings but I'm happy if most of them load.

I do hope you are reporting this to CS. The only way to get these ongoing glitches fixed is if they can see it is more widespread.

Permalink Reply by Marni Bakst on February 6, 2012 at 3:32pm I had a pic (one of five or six) that didn't load the first time about two days ago. Sigh... a real PITA.
Permalink Reply by Ruby Lane on February 7, 2012 at 5:10pm Hi folks, Whenever you have these types of issues, you have to report them to Ruby Lane via the Help button. I can't help you with the tech stuff, but they can or at least they can determine if it is a trend or ... This is the only way to resolve these types of issues. We have to 'know' about them first before we address them. Just keep banging away until you get an answer or something you can work with. Not all issues are RL related but.... some are. Carol
