Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

You may have heard of Squidoo, but do you know how it works and how you can use it to help promote your Ruby Lane shop? Here's how Squidoo describes their site:

"Squidoo is the popular publishing platform and community that makes it easy for you to create "lenses" online. Lenses are pages, kind of like flyers or signposts or overview articles, that gather everything you know about your topic of interest--and snap it all into focus. Like the lens of a camera, your perspective on something."

Squidoo lenses are very easy to make, very engaging, and they're free. You can make a lens about your Ruby Lane shop, or about your collecting passions, or about any other topic that interests you. There are photo gallery tools, video tools and lots more. Squidoo allows you to link your lenses to items in your shop or anywhere else you choose that adds valuable content for viewers. You can share your lenses on your favorite social sites.

See you there!

We are working on adding Ruby Plaza Squidoo Lenses, will let you know when we have a few to view.

While I like calamari, I've never tried Squidoo .... (ok, I know, lame attempt at a joke).

So, if I make a lens about my Ruby Lane shop or an item in my Ruby Lane Shop, what happens when that item sells?

I've not looked at Squidoo at all, yet. So I know nothing.

I think you are funny myself. LOLOL  no calamari for me but lets talk stone crab claws, lobster, clams and shrimp ....... oh now I am drooling and hunnnnnnnnnngry

Let's .... I'm in Maryland - the land of crab. Crab cakes.

Heck, now I'm hungry, too.

I'd never really noticed "Squidoo" before, so you got me interested.

I made my first clumsy attempt at a lens. I'm sure I'll refine it.

I want to figure out the photo gallery. And all kinds of stuff.

Here's my first attempt:  http://www.squidoo.com/unstructured

To Squidoo or Not to Squidoo!  We have 20 lenses with more to come:

Hi, Gals

Sorry I haven't been around to see your lenses earlier. I had a death in my family so I have been out of town.

Just viewed and commented on your lenses on Squidoo. Great jobs!  Isn't it fun?  I am so  addicted.  Check out my lenses. We have similar topics. Perhaps we can link to each other on Squidoo.

Hi folks,

I am sorry to hear of the death in your family. My prayers go out to you and your family.

We are working on adding a links section to all of our Squidoo section specifically for shops to link with. Of course, we need to 'borrow' another pair of hands. Karen, Jennifer and I hit overload about 3 years ago. LOL So, stay tuned.

I haven't been back here to respond ...

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you.

I'd love to link our "lenses" together. This is certainly addictive!

I've also been playing on Pinterest.

It's like making giant bulletin boards with all the website images you like pinned to it. All you have to do is click on the image and it takes you to the webpage. And if someone else likes something I've pinned, they can click on it and "re-pin" it to their page.

Will have to explore how it can be used to market our wares!

Oh, please, don't get me hooked on something else. Between 2 shops, TVV, Facebook (which I just got back on) and Squidoo, I am never off the computer. LOL!

I joined Squidoo a couple of months ago and built one lens. My lens is not hugely popular, even though I advertised it on FB. I don't know if I will build other lenses. The format was a little clumsy for me. Maybe if I would get more capable with it. Sometimes I wanted to put two or three pictures next to each other, but I could only figure out one picture per text frame. So I adapted how I wrote to the format.
If you try again, they do have module called photo gallery where you can do 5 photos at a time.  What was your lens called?  I just published my fourth one: http://www.squidoo.com/franklin-mint-cats

Alley Cat, I just visited and liked your Franklin Mint cats. That is such a good lens. It is the best I can remember seeing so far. The format fit your needs very well. My lens is about Archimede Seguso's animals. It is at http://www.squidoo.com/archimede-seguso-a-lifetime-of-glass-animals. I blush after I look at your lens. Good job!
