Has anyone else been experiencing an increase in the number of purchase orders placed but not completed? I have had two this month where they requested to purchase an item, was sent an invoice, then nothing else happened. No more correspondence from the customer. I sent reminders, etc. No sale was made. Is there something in the water these days???

Permalink Reply by Suzy's Timeless Treasures on February 16, 2012 at 6:23pm There was another thread on here a couple of months back and someone had mentioned that they will call the customer after x days if there has been no payment received or email communication from the buyer.
I took their advice on 2 orders that were not paid for. One buyer sounded like a harried mom, kids shouting in the background, and was grateful I had called her as she hadn't gotten my emails through RL. I resent her an invoice through Paypal and she paid right after that. I don't remember the situation with the other order, but I did make phone contact with the buyer and did receive payment as well. So I am sold on giving the buyer a call if all else fails.
Permalink Reply by Ruby Lane on February 17, 2012 at 12:12pm I think giving the buyer the benefit of the doubt is a good rule to follow. The real world does interfere in all our lives at times and when we least expect it. And, email is notorious for marking emails as spam when they are not. So, I do always check my spam folder. If they don't respond I do have the choice of calling them or sending them an email via my regular email instead of through RL. If the item isn't really worth a phone call then I just cancel the order and return it the item to stock. I rarely block anyone but I would if I thought it was necessary. No matter what, I am always polite, even if I am biting my tongue. Carol

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on February 17, 2012 at 3:20pm I try my best with emails to not ever call a customer if possible. Once upon a time I did call a customer and evidently this lady had ordered and forgot to mention this to her other half. He was none too happy.
I also never want to spill the beans in case it is a gift or something. I have only blocked one person and this is the one mentioned by quite a few dealers not too long ago.
