Thank you Ruby Lane for the Pinterest button on the pages. Will they eventually have all the information like the Etsy buttons do?

Permalink Reply by The Old Grey Mare on February 8, 2012 at 7:16pm Carolyn, so excited that they did this, this new Pinterest button on RL gave me the courage to try Pinterest for the very first time today, up till now, I've been a lurker, trying to sort it out. Still not sure about the terminology, but I did a board on horse treasures on Ruby Lane. I have to say, it was great fun. No price banners, like I think Etsy has, but everything I pinned linked back to the item page on Ruby Lane. What a terrific tool, for sharing and hopefully for selling!

Permalink Reply by COBAYLEY on February 8, 2012 at 7:19pm I agree. I've been using Pinterest in earnest for the past few weeks, but I lurked there for over a year. It is a lot of fun. Because I do so much promoting for Ruby Lane sellers, if the button would fill in the blank description box when you clicked on it it would be very, very cool...
I love Pinterest..not just for the business end, but I love looking at all the sites, recipes, pictures that others have found and are willing to share...
Twitter with pictures...

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on February 8, 2012 at 7:24pm fabulous isn't it. I do see sporadic showing on the pinterest gifts section though.
Most go thru but some do not. I refresh but think it is just so fast paced.
So much easier. Not 100% sure all dealers appreciate if I post or pin their item from RL though. I was putting the name of the shop and the price but since now directly from RL I am not.
We need Pinterest Ruby Lane dealer to dealer etiquette among the other 199 things...

Permalink Reply by COBAYLEY on February 8, 2012 at 7:28pm I'm sorry, I don't understand...etiquette?

Permalink Reply by Antique Beak on February 8, 2012 at 7:44pm If you put a dollar sign $ in your Pinterest description it will place the price banner across the top left corner of your pic. Any items with this banner will automatically go into the gifts section.

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on February 8, 2012 at 7:49pm Yes, etiquette. Some shops perhaps may not want their items on pinterest.
Then if they do is it ok to put the price to send the items to the gift section. Then what happens when price changes or items get moved to like say RP.

Permalink Reply by COBAYLEY on February 8, 2012 at 7:56pm Interesting observation...I personally would welcome anyone pinning any of my items. I think this falls into the realm of once you put it on the internet it's fair game for anyone to copy and paste unless it is copyrighted. As for the changing of venues, items selling, falling out of the search, the pinterest boards move so fast, I think they will recover quite nicely. I for one am very conscientious of my boards and I check them periodically for items that have been removed or changed. I rarely pin an eBay item because of the short term they are up in view. If someone told me they did not want their items pinned...I would try to honor their request..

I feel like I am so behind -

Permalink Reply by COBAYLEY on February 8, 2012 at 8:42pm There is apparently a whole other conversation going on here that I don't understand...I merely wanted to ask Carol (Ruby Lane) if they were going to make the link that opens when you click on the "pin it" button on Ruby Lane like the button that opens up on Etsy when you click on the "pin it" button there...sorry I even asked.
Permalink Reply by The Old Grey Mare on February 8, 2012 at 9:00pm Forgive me Carolyn, I can't help but think it is the conversation I had with Antique Beak that you are referring to. Sorry, I forget sometimes that conversations here are apparently supposed to stay strictly on topic, no diversions, my mistake. Jennifer, of Antique Beak is a good friend, she helps me and shares with me, since she is quite adept on Pinterest. We're meeting up on Friday, so I got carried away in mentioning it. I think I can delete these posts, so that your question can go to Carol. Again, sorry, have a good evening!

Permalink Reply by Jan Story on February 22, 2012 at 4:18pm Am I missing something, or just blind? Pinterest button? I've looked where I add items and I've looked at items as they show in my shop and I don't see any way to share with any social networking site. When I pin my items I use the pinmarklet button on my browser toolbar.
