As we discussed recently, Google now requires specific information be included in an item description for " "Apparel & Accessories" as defined by Google. This includes Clothing, Costumes, Jewelry, Shoes, Watches, and Accessories for these categories.
As you can see, Jewelry, Watches and Accessories are on the list, something we have not discussed.
If you have not done so recently, go to add item in your shop, chose a category for fashion or jewelry, and a new drop down will appear with fields that require inputs by you.
Remember, you must modify the items in your shop to include the required information if you want your items to go out in the nightly feed to Google shopping.
If you have questions. let me know.
I would like Ruby Lane & Ruby Plaza shop owners to reply to this thread. It will make it easier for me to manage one discussion as opposed to two on the same topic.
Thanks, Carol

Yes, we do. Another reason we are requiring the attributes for apparel related items.
Purses - the requirement for attributes for purses may be eliminated. We are waiting on a ruling. To change the mapping for items takes work and time, so don't expect the change to occur anytime soon, if a change occurs.

Would you mind explaining this to me, I do not understand?

Permalink Reply by CheriShops - Admin on September 21, 2011 at 10:46am I assumed when you said you were taking items "off sale" you were hiding them ie in your back room?
When they are there, they are not being fed to Google for the product search, nor are they available for the regular Googlebots to spider into the organic search. It can take a while for items to be ranked well on Google organic search so when they are effectively removed by being hidden, and then placed back in your shop, they have to be reindexed and so can drop back in the search ranking
I learned this lesson the hard way on another venue when I hid all my items while doing updates.
Not having items showing for sale and so losing potential customers is I think self explanatory?
If you were referring to something else when you said "take off sale" then all this is not relevant :)

Permalink Reply by Grapenut Glass & More on September 21, 2011 at 10:48am No, Cheri. I am putting the price back to the original price & showing them as 'regular price'.
Geebus, you like to gave me a heart attack there! :)

? guess I am not understanding how having items on or off reduced price ie sale affects doing these updates??
but lol if it is working....good :)
Permalink Reply by Grapenut Glass & More on September 21, 2011 at 11:06am The only things "on sale" in my shop right are the jewelry items I need to edit. I go to View My Shop page; I click on the Sale Items link on the page. Takes me to all my sale items; I can edit & put back to regular price, which takes it out of the Sale Items area.
That's what works for me. YMMV.

Hi all-I thought (incorrectly) that I wouldn't have any questions regarding these changes as so many have asked and received answers. I printed out the "desc. inputs for add/modify etc. etc." and was all set-full speed ahead task completed. However this morning I started re-reading the info and find I do need to clarify a couple of things.
I used small / medium (example) for clothing sizes or say "extra small / small". Don't anyone ask why I spelled everything out as I have no sensible answer.
Do I have to change all clothing sizes to read XXS S M L etc,? or will the spelled out words be okay.
The other question is on page 6 of my print-out, where it shows the same topic as above, each letter XXS S, for example, there are dashes seperating the letters, is this the correct way or was this used just for TVV to show examples. If it's the correct way then I'll have to go in and change all my sizes using the dash instead of the slash space etc. that I've used.
How confusing is this, hope you've all had your second coffee by now, you'll need a clear head to sort out my queries. .........:)
Permalink Reply by Capricious Crowns & Jewels on September 21, 2011 at 11:43am I also think it refers to having items in your back room. Just because you modify it to go on sale with prices crossed out or whatever options RL gives, I don't think that disrupts the search. The same would be for any 'make an offer' tags, otherwise, every single item could never be modified without fear of disrupting Google searches, which would not make any sense at all.

I do know that the answer to whether you use S or Small was that both are acceptable PROVIDED you are consistent and use the same throughout ie don't use S on some and Small on others
HTH :)

Permalink Reply by Ruby Lane on September 22, 2011 at 1:00am dashes slashes dots .... oh my
Swanky -
You can use S or Small or a size number 6 or Size 6 .... the dashes were just to separate the sizes. Or you can put in the measurements see the 'list' ...
Sorry I didn't get back to this discussion sooner.
Let me know if you have other questions.
I haven't even thought about putting in my sizes yet. I feel ill.
