Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

Hi Everyone -I am new to this forum (although not new to Ruby Lane).

I would like to know if designer clothing and accessories, including handbags, must be 20 years or older (pre-1991 or older) in order to be listed on Ruby Lane.

Thanks!

Debbie

Yup.

Vintage Clothing & Accessory items must be at least 20 years old, of high quality, authentic, and not reproductions.

Hi  Debbie

yes, clothing & accessories on Ruby Lane do have to be Vintage or Antique for Ruby Lane.

Ruby Plaza allows new and contemporary pre-owned fashion & accessories

ps here is the link to the "official rules" ;)

The rules are pretty straightforward. Something either has to be at least 20 years old or be in a published price guide. My main confusion is if the price guide has to be in book form. There are price guides published online, but I don't know if those count. If something is in a price guide, reference to the guide should be included in the listing.

Thank you - that is what I wanted to know.

"The specific item is found mentioned in a printed price guide book, and the name of the printed price guide book in which the item was found and the year the item was made are both provided within the listing."

The above isn't found in the Vintage Clothing and Accessory guidelines, but this is what is listed for the other Lanes.

So, yes, it must be a 'printed' price guide, not an online price guide.

My only issue with the vintage clothing section is when I have items I know are 1960s or earlier and no labels. Then they have go to my RP shop. Though I see some (not many)  that do not follow but I do not want flags on me.

I am notorious myself about taking tags off of clothing. I cannot stand a tag hitting or scratching my neck. Should be the law to have to sew them on side seam or something.

My Mom is like that - she can't stand a label in the neck either.  I feel that way about labels in side seams that are scratching my ribs!

Thanks for your help everyone - I appreciate it.

Hi Graceful,

Even if your items have no labels, and you know from your eye, feel, knowledge of style, fabric and experience etc that they are 1960's or before, no need to list them on Ruby Plaza, go for it on Ruby Lane. Many wonderful vintage clothing items have no labels, so put yours in either shop as you see fit. Good Luck, Marianne
