Why is it some items get so many adding it to their wish list but noone follows thru?
When it gets 7 or 9 people watching the item it begins to make me silly.
Is it just me that seems to have quite a few items that this happens to?
Anyone have any ideas how to follow thru?
Reducing price? I have done that on some.
Makes me wonder if somehow communication is lost somewhere. Seems like they would ask a ? about it. I rarely if ever get ?'s on my shop.
Except from other RL dealers. Anyone care to test this for me that is not a RL dealer?
Thank you in advance.
Sandy
Graceful Antiques.
Put something on a wish list and then send me a ? about the specific thing so I can know if it is working properly. I would greatly appreciate it.
If you want it I may give a discount depending on the item.

It has been a surprise to me how few items that are on wish lists actually sell compared with the others in my shops
Permalink Reply by Jan Story on June 5, 2012 at 6:49pm That's the same everywhere - watchers and buyers don't seem to have very much to do with one another. Another phenomenon my husband mentioned (it wouldn't have occurred to me) is that people might either think their wishlists can be shared like the ones on large ecommerce sites, or are sharing them somehow: "If you want to give me something nice for my birthday you can get me..."
A third possibility is consumer confidence. There's probably a fair amount of "I'd like to get... if things pick up a little."
I also wonder how it really works. I even e-mail every single watcher when I reduce an item and still nothing. I wish that when an item would sell that it would get dropped from the wish list. I have so many items on there that are long gone!

Yes, I have wondered about wish list items too. Not sure what the wisher is expecting. I suspect that they put it on their wish list so they can keep an eye on it to see if it is reduced or put on sale. But do they think that putting something on a wish list encourages the seller to mark it down? I have commented to wishers "this is going away soon so please make an offer if you are interested" but no one ever does. All my items are "Offers Accepted" so if they like it well enough to put it on a wish list why don't they make an offer? Puzzling. Some of them are one of a kinds so it can't be that they have one of their own and want to see if it sells.
I just go to the wish listpage and go to the bottom and it says show all watches. That will let you know how many people are watching an item. Where it says remark I just tell each person that watches that item that it is reduced or sold or whatever.

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on June 6, 2012 at 2:48pm Oh yes.I do that. When you stated you emailed them is where I misunderstood. Thank you.
I have no way of knowing if someone other than a RL dealer tested for me. If someone did then it is not working for me.
Thanks.Sandy

Permalink Reply by Ornaments on June 8, 2012 at 8:59am I have noticed that when I do sell a wish listed item it is often right after it was placed on the wish list. I think this is because a lot of wish list items are from people looking for a gift or something like that. They wish list a bunch of 'possibles' and then buy one. The others then stay on the wish list because they don't get around to removing them. Also, if you change the item or you leave a comment, they don't get an email right away. I think the emails only go out once a week by default and if I'm not mistaken, there's some place where you can set how often you want to get wish list notifications.
Permalink Reply by Marni Bakst on June 8, 2012 at 12:28pm A lot of people use the Wish List for research and/or just to keep track of things, for example items similar to ones they have. In other words, just because it's called a Wish List doesn't necessarily mean people are wishing to buy the item.
Permalink Reply by The Old Grey Mare on June 8, 2012 at 12:41pm I agree with Marni. For any number of reasons, I have things on my wish list that I want to keep track of. If I have even a vague intention of buying an item on Ruby Lane, I put it in my shopping cart.

Permalink Reply by Pearl's Parlor on June 8, 2012 at 2:58pm Sometimes I put an item on my wish list because I want to watch new items added by that particular seller. It's just an easy way for me to click the Wish List, and then click that seller's store name to check new items.

Permalink Reply by Graceful Antiques on July 10, 2012 at 8:50pm Ok, still not clear to me and wondering.
If I have something showing on the item that someone has this on their wish list or cart and in my wish list inside my maintenance this does not show at all can I assume then that it is indeed in their cart instead of their wish list?
or should it also if it is in a cart show on my wish list in my maintenance? Thanks. Sandy
