The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

I've been Twittering for a while, but it's basically been having my FB page automatically tweet my stuff.

I've added a lot of people I'm following and I've got new followers.

I don't want to overwhelm folks with Tweeters.

I have a smartphone, and I was following stuff on my phone but that sure got annoying when it would beep every 2 seconds.

Do ya'll follow Twitter on the webpage or on your phones or how do you keep up with who is Tweeting what?

And re-Tweeting?  What do you re-tweet and how do you choose?

So much to learn, so little time!

TweetDeck does allow you to schedule tweets, but I've never tried it, I agree, it would be "robotic", I prefer to tweet "in the moment."  But TweetDeck or HootSuite allow you to manage your Twitter experience so much better than the plain Twitter page, where you really can't keep up with what's going on.  You can have various columns, and see things as they happen.  I have Ruby Lane as one of my columns, so I know when someone mentions it, I see all their tweets.  You can customize the columns to see what you want to see, in real time, along with a regular feed from your followers and people you follow.

I remember when I started on Twitter, how confused I was, but over a period of time you learn, and it truly is a lot of fun, along with being a good way to drive business to your shop.  I would suggest that you investigate Klout, and perhaps sign up, it measures your social media impact, gives you a good idea of your reach in this area.  You can tie your Facebook page and Twitter page to Klout, as well as Google+.  Just a thought.....

Great.  I knew you didn't I was just saving face in case you did. :0). Maybe someday I will venture out into the big world of techie stuff. Until then have a blessed night, oh are we connected on twitter? If not I would like to be !

BTW I have a snart phone and yes thats just it! To techie for me, I need one of those old fashion ones ha ha, told you I am a little ol lady :)

I think my next project is to look into this, it may cause me less grief then I need. Thanks for the heads up :)

This morning shows that my Dog brooch has had 29 hits since you re-tweeted, and that's with the site being down most of yesterday !!!  It was added to one wish list.  Thanks for re-tweeting, and for sharing the example of "how it works" with me/us.

I haven't Twittered yet this morning. My hubby's work schedule sometimes interferes with my daily schedule. He is on the flight schedule for an evening flight, so he went into work just a few minutes ago. I'm all discombobulated!

Here's an example of what I think is successful on Twitter Cathy @CharmedLiving.  I went to your shop, and tweeted your rhinestone hunting dog brooch.  My tweet was picked up by one of the daily papers on Twitter, the Daily Dish by @BMWMediaMaven.  So not just my 1093 followers had an opportunity to see it, but all her followers and everyone who is subscribed to her newspaper did as well.  She is very involved with dogs, so a target market there.  I'd be curious to know if your reports show increased hits to it.  Mine usually do when something gets tweeted or makes a daily paper, and sometimes it sells.

I really struggle with Twitter....have my facebook biz page set to automatically Tweet what I post there...but actually following stuff on Twitter just leaves me confuddled...just not a format I seem to fit, and seems to require a whole help more time than I have available.

I find the Twitter website crazy to figure out.

I downloaded TweetDeck and I think it's going to make my Twitter experience much better.

Cheri @Remtique, I went to your shop and tweeted your German Shepherd dog powder jar.  Hopefully, it will show an increase in hits in your reports tomorrow.  Twitter was very confusing to me at first, but I think that you will find it is very successful in driving traffic to your shop.  It just takes time to understand.  If you go to the Ruby Lane Blog, you will find some archived articles from my friend Beth Pulsipher of Red Moon Antiques.  She is @loongirl on Twitter.  Her articles are very easy to understand, and give great tips on how to be successful on Twitter.  I believe you can search Red Moon in the Blog, or Twitter, and the articles will come up.  Twitter does take some time to figure out, but I find it really worthwhile.

I would love to understand more about using Twitter to increase traffic to my shop.  I twitter my listings but do not know if that really helps.

I do not understand Tweet Deck - what is it?

I will try to find Beth's blogs

Thanks!

Marie

I love Twitter so much more than any other social media.  I tweet a lot and don't worry about how much anyone else is tweeting as it isn't like facebook.  I don't think it's important to try to read every tweet or to respond to every tweet.  To me, the most important  tweets are the ones that are directed to me only and my tweets that have been retweeted by someone else.  I try to retweet them, thank them and to be sure to mention them often.  I have over 400 followers and I will go through my list every few weeks and mention as many of them as I have time for.  Twitter is a good tool to bring more traffic to your store and I saw a dramatic increase when I started tweeting.

Thanks @DexterGrass :)

I confess I don't even understand twitter-speak....I know we are @ our name but what is the # for? I assume RT is retweet?

lol

I really am far more comfy on fb

but

I know I need to understand the other important methods of communicating and therefore promoting to maximize success

@Remtique appreciates the "follows" and if I have missed following any back, please do lmk  :)

Marie,

TweetDeck is software that helps you manage your Twitter feeds ... you can also manage Facebook feeds. Right now I'm trying to figure out Twitter, then I'll move on to FB with it.

Here's a link: http://www.tweetdeck.com/desktop/
