I have not started using it, did find a section for vintage? I am signed up there, I just have not taken the time to work with it yet....looks interesting, and a nice way to show products too.

I had not heard of it before. I don't see anything for vintage, though.

I haven't explored it too much, yet.

I have heard of it in some parallel universe!  I did manage to find some vintage:  http://pinterest.com/chris_stephens/vintage/

Will have to check this site out further!!  Thanks for the link:)

I've used it but I have not set up an account specifically for my vintage business world.  Here's my Pinterest boards from the other part of my brain...  http://pinterest.com/evidentress

hmm, looks interesting but oh so time consuming. Will have to check it out when I go on vacation. Thanks for sharing!
It's not really time consuming.  You start with a couple of boards preset which you can expand upon or rename as you start using it more.  The thing that makes it easy to collects Pins on your boards is called "Pin It" which I keep a link to in my bookmarks bar.  So when I run across something in a blog or shop, etc. I click on "Pin It" and you can pin from your browser (and Tweet/Facebook at same time).  It's actually pretty addictive. :)
actually what is its purpose??

Funny this should have been mentioned here, because it was also mentioned on the Nate Berkus show this afternoon. I love new gadgets and gizmos and toys, so I snuck over and checked it out. It looks like a great way to organize your favorite links with pretty pictures attached. Great for planning or gathering ideas in one easy spot.

I made 2 "boards" in the matter of minutes.

This one is for our Dream Log Home we're building for retirement.

This one is for Vintage Costume Jewelry links that I use frequently and love.

Their info says not to have too many links from the same website ... so promoting your very own store might not be a great idea ... but it might be a great way to promote a group of like-minded sellers, or complimentary sellers.

Build a small consortium of sellers interested in the same type of items (like me with costume jewelry and ephemera) ... and link to each other's items on a page. It would require housekeeping as those items sell, though.

Just another "spread the love", "share the knowledge" kind of internet marketing tool.

Here is my Pinterest account

I use Pinterest.
It is a fantastic additional site to post items from your shop.
It's referred to as " pinning "
It is so easy that it is not time consuming.
After you sign up on Pinterest, you click, " get pin "
Then you go to your shop, select an item that does not have your shop name on it, instead, select an item that has a plain backround, no frills....crazy for me to tell you that after suggesting you put your name on everything, but , things have changed, and that is not a good idea anymore.
Anyway, then you click on your items to pin your item onto your Pinterest page.
Now, when you check out my page, you will see one or 2 of my photos still has writing on the photo...I am having a personal busy year with family and the house, so, I have not been active with my shop and am slowly changing all of my photos to a simple format.
I use my regular name, Linda Caricofe, on Pinterest.
I not only have my items there, but, also have items from other sellers...if I see an item I like on another page, I put it on my page, no matter where they sell.
It's like a retweet on twitter....a friendly gesture to my shop friends. By retweeting and repinning other shop items you have varity on your page and are not self promoting yourself, instead, you are sharing.
Pinterest is hot on the search engine.
I use items Pinterest to clip to my Polyvore page.
Polyvore is a site people use to enjoy creating.
I have always enjoyed art, thanks to Polyvore, I now enjoy myself instead of working all the time..I was a workaholic...now, I play more than work..and it has paid off..thank's to playing, I learned what people are looking for, what do they like these days, and what's " trending "
Polyvore has a huge group of home decor designers that go to sites such as Pinterest to clip items found there for their home interior sets. Items such as vases, powder boxes, furniture etc.
When they use your item in their Polyvore set, a link to your shop goes along with it. Otherwise, that item you put on Pinterest takes a little trip. The item's link goes from your shop, to Pinterest, to sites such as Polyvore or Kaboodle.
The link travels and anything that travels on the net, that links back to your shop, is a winner for sure.
I am Linda Caricofe on Polyvore too.
I use my name now , more than my shop name due to so many changes on the net such as FaceBook...by using my name, not my shop name, it's my items' shop links that are the tool, not my shop.
Pinterest and Twitter, and ofcourse the ning groups, which I have to say, at this point, this is the ning site to stay with, it has grown and is the best on the net, and I am not getting paid to say that.
So, the must have trip for your item links it , Twitter, Pinterest, and The Vintage Village...you do the trio, and you will have success.
Best wishes, your friend,
Linda

hmmm.  I just went to Ruby Lane and pinned an item from your shop to my Pinterest page.

Here's a link:  http://pinterest.com/charmedliving/vintage-costume-jewelry/

Worked fine.

If you will private message me your email address, I will send you an invitation to Pinterest and we can see if that works.  I've been using it quite a while, and have been able to successfully invite friends.

I sent my email to Pinterest and they just emailed me that I'm on the waiting list and will be on board soon.  We'll see!  Curious about using it!
