Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

I have this wonderful two tone glass vase and have no idea what it is
It is 13 1/2" high and approx. 7" round
It has finely detailed floral decoration on it
I have not found any marks of any kinds
The glass itself is opalescent milky white with a greyish/brownish tint.
It seems to be white glass layered in brown glass

I was told it might be cased glass - I cannot scratch the inside of the vase - there is no paint coming off - but it does have a tiny white speck in the brown glass at the bottom.

It was a gift from a friend in the 70's - she is not an "antiquer" - so the vase probably dates from that time.

Pictures 1, 2 and 3 show the brown glass at the foot of the vase slowing fading into the white glass.
What is the correct name for this kind of glass?
Is it handblown?
Any idea of the maker?
What is the approximate value?
I would appreciate any help or comment since I am completely clueless at the moment.

that is lovely :)

It does look like cased glass and the decorative florals look like they are enamel

The style of the flowers looks Japanese or Chinese to me, but that was also a style used by some of the European glassmakers

Without knowing its age and origin for sure, it is hard to value it, as well as factor that it was a gift, so you may feel somewhat sentimental about it?

As to year, unless someone can help narrow the date, I think you should just call it "vintage" and say you have had it since the 70s but it may be older.

Thanks Cheri

I don't feel very sentimental about it - especially since we have seriously downsized and I have no way to display it.

It will just be boxed and probably be broken and that won't do me any good.

I really do think that the age is somewhere around the 60's to 70's because my friend would have thought that if she gave me anything from an antique store it would be "used" and therefore no good.  Amazes me!

Anyway, I listed it along the lines you outlined above and priced it at $ 65.00. I hope I am not too far off the mark.

Thank you very much for your input - I love vintage not only for the pretty items but also for the research and edu involved in collecting and selling.
