The Vintage Village

Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

I imagine that many of us in the Glass group will be collectors of or lovers of glass ourselves. So I thought we could have a little natter about our collections :)

Mine is eclectic and tends to change from one year to the next. Currently it's stuck on Fenton cat figurines, some Blenko pieces if I love them too much to part with them at the right price, and English glass.

How about you?

If it is glass....I collect it! ;-)

I have a very eclectic collection that ranges from a complete set of Hocking's EAPC to Lalique! Have some really nice reverse painted and leaded glass lamps as well as figural vanity glass and lady flower frogs, Deco glass vases.

I do love those Fenton kitties of yours :)

We collect Blenko glass. We have a large number of their water bottles.

Glass pitchers.

And stained glass windows.

Cheri, I'm always so envious of the European deco glasses you post. That's the kind of thing I aspire to have in my English collection some day.

I used to have an enormous collection of those, purchased from sellers in the UK & Europe. There was a time when one could get them at very good prices, including the shipping. But the prices have started to go up and up! tho careful searching around sometimes still brings amazing and affordable finds on the 'bay and other parts of www

Here in Florida, they do periodically appear at estate sales & even yard sales to my surprise. Florida having the distinction of being the "Retirement Capital of the World" has some interesting residents and pretty amazing Estate Sales...tho often the prices at the latter, even on 1/2 price day, are waaay above what I can profitably resell. Depends on who is running them tho...some give great deals and often those pieces remain mine! all mine!!  ;-)

Some of my collection comes from my youth/Mom and some from when I lived in London and scoured antique shops and flea markets.

I've been collecting English glass, my sister came to visit a few weeks ago so I purchased from Ebay UK and had her bring things with her lol. There's still steals to be had!

I don't collect a lot by way of glass, but I've found that I love old, ornate bottles and especially Civil War-era medicine/whiskey bottles (which are not always ornate, but are still quite lovely.)  I don't have a lot right now, due to very limited space and no space for display, but I do have a few.

JenniferLynn's Finds Vintage

You would love my bottle collection Jennifer!

I used to work in Med research at a university and they were going to throw out all the wonderful old bottles from the labs. I offered to take them (only left any that had hazardous stuff like mercury in them) They are browns and blues and greens, plus some clear...all different shapes and sizes. This was during the 70s and some of those bottles had been there since at least the early 1900s if not earlier. They are prolly worth quite a bit now but I do hope I will never have to sell them...they have moved with me over 3 Continents and a number of houses...and none broken!!! :)

Jadite, vintage kitchen

Jeanette ultramarine swirl and Heisey nut dishes :=), although I am pretty eclectic and keep examples of many others that I buy and then just can't part with.
