Thise homes are amazing have you got any historical information on them? Where ar ethay at?In Australia these type homes ar efew and far between but there was one I know of across the road frtom my daughter .In a small town in Australia I will see if I can find a pic online of it.

I found one this is the story ....
This stately mansion was built in 1888 for John Holmes Reid a wealthy tin mining magnate. Tastefully restored Stannum is open for limited homestay and for group tours. Stannum was used as a Camp hospital during 1942-44.I also had heard they wanted Tenterfield (in middle of Australi) to be the capital of new South Wales.Whether this was true I am not sure but was told that story a few times......

More info Stannum was built with the hope that it would become the first government house in Australia, because at that time, John Reid was running for a Federal seat and Tenterfield was on the short list to become the national capital.. so was a true story.
The hardware was just as amazing

This pc was pattented in 1870 and was shown only in the 1870 R & E catalog, not shown in the next catalog, this is when it was art.

I am always amazed at the workmanship and time put into things that were made so many years ago.We have it so easy now and yet things then lasted so much longer.Wouldnt it be great to go back and learn how they did things then?
@ Craig!!! Please DO share more pictures!!!! :) I am just in awe of the piece you posted.... the detail is amazing.

This is a front door plate in the Belfprt pattern, school of design Rococo, made by Reading hardware ca 1900. some would call this over done, but for the victorians was just right

This pc here when I was last at the doorknob convention,( yes we have a yearly convention) all the experts were there the ones who have and are writing books on the subject had never seen this pc here, it has the old man north wind or the green man, along with a winged dog pull and it is just a pull handle.

Is this the Carter House in Eureka, Calif? Sure looks like it! We used to stay there. Also the Gingerbread Mansion in nearby Ferndale, California. Got to know the owner after many stays there and very nearly bought another B&B in Ferndale, The Old Rectory, to take his overflow!
