That is absolutely gorgeous!! I have a few of my grandmothers victorian dresses. Had an opera coat but it fell apart about 20 years ago. She (and then my mother & aunt) used to use it for dressup as they were growong up & it wasn't in the best shape. That looks gorgeous!

A lovely antique velvet brocade coat from Philadelphia for a night at the opera! The back is slit to accommodate the bustle dress. The sleeves are doleman style which severely restrict the arm movement. It is a treasure!

Okay...Victorian trivia for the day...what IS this bottle? Why is it shaped this way....something's fishy!!!LOL
Hint...source of many of my English DH's childhood play things and now quite collectible.

What is it? What's it called?????
Is this a Victorian tear catcher???

Hi Estelle...it is a Codd bottle...named for the person who discovered the use of a pinched bottle with a marble stopper which kept the fizzy contents fresh until the seal was broken.
Here is a link to my listing with more info. They are hard to find...my husband grew up breaking any he found to get the marbles out!

I absolutely love the style of the Victorian gentlemen. They always looks so dapper in their top hats and canes.
Thanks. That is interesting. I have never heard of a Codd Bottle. I must do more research on it. I love to learn something new about something old!
