I actually got into collecting by receiving from my English grandmother her victorian stash of clothing, Royal memorabilia, china and much more. She remembered being 16 when Queen Victoria celebrated her Golden Jubilee. She had had scarlet fever so could not go the the street party with roast oxen etc but was conveyed there to watch from a distance in the family carriage with blankets, a muff, a foot warmer and lots of warm clothes.

My love of victoriana began then and has only grown stronger!
Great idea for a group! Thanks for the Invite...I will have to see what I have in my Stash of Victorian Jewels. :)
Thank you for the invitation, must check my stash for some Victorian jewelry. I will post pictures soon.

How lucky you are TWA to have a collection started like that with a history to connect it with.Have you picture of your gran from back then?
I do...I'll have to get it out. My daugther framed one for a school woodworking class back in the '70s that was my favorite that has always hung in the bedroom. I do have others, so I will have to sort one out.

Thank You for this group! I am loving all that is being shared so far, and so much fun too!:)
Well...you said Victoriana and this is...but coming under the ANYTHING category...Horse brasses.

Horse brasses were developed in the 17th century to decorate and identify draft horses and are very collectible. In England you see them decorating the beams in pubs or hung by the fireplace in homes. They covered everything from good luck symbols to coats of arms to commemorative items and everything in between. I just love them and have had a great time over the years looking for ones I haven't had before & researching their meanings.
