Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

As a lover of fashion, first and foremost, but also a lifelong learner regarding the world of vintage fashions, I was delighted to find an article on the Antique Trader's website about my favorite designer, Elsa Schiaparelli.

I recently sold a silk Schiaparelli scarf to a woman who saw her show at The Met with her daughter. The scarf was a gift for her daughter's birthday as they truly loved seeing the show together and learning more about the woman behind the design.

Below is the link to the article from Antique Trader. Read and let me know your thoughts, your own Schiaparelli finds, and if anyone is today's fashion world compares to Elsa Schiaparelli.

As for me, I was in a consignment shop on N. Oak Trafficway in North Kansas City when I spotted a pair of copper sequined Schiaparelli shoes in the display case. $12.00 later and they were mine! (I know. . . a complete bargain!) Since, I have found a plush 3-tone hat, several scarves, and a recent perfume.

You are a lucky shopper to find such great fashion designer's goodies. I love when that happens, it's like almost a steal or highway robbery even though you paid for it!

Great article also!

Barbara

There is definitely a thrill to the hunt, especially when gathering a designer find for a great price.  :-)

Thanks for responding!

Very good and interesting article, I enjoyed reading it.  Unfortunately , for my bank account, it led me to other links and other articles and now I'm going to add 2 more books to my ever expanding "vintage clothing and accessories" book collection. (ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh, don't breathe a word....it's a secret.)    ;>)

Ha ha join the club. I am smothered in books, but there is always that "one more book" to buy!

LOL! We share some of the same characteristics. . . and I am now shopping for another bookshelf as well. :-)

Pul-eease, they are under the beds, in the linen closet, wherever I can stick them, have no more room for bookshelves. lol

LOL! We moved in January, so many of mine are still in boxes. . . bringing in two shelves this afternoon. Let the unpacking begin!

When I was married, my ex and I crossed Canada twice in moves. One day getting ready to pack he said "I'm not dragging those books across Canada again, you'll have  to get rid of 1/2".

I agonized over that,  it felt like I was deciding on which of my 2 kids to take or leave behind. He deserves to be my ex don't you think?  :)

:-) We get pretty attached to our books, don't we? I am lucky to have someone who not only helps move the books, but is also going to pick up the bookshelves today--from his ex's house! LOL!

That being said, I also inherited thousands of my father's books and have subsequently sold down to a reasonable amount. It was a chore moving and storing so many, so I finally just kept my very favorites. It did make life more manageable, especially during another move. Now just planning to stay put for a while!

I know every time I moved I had to let some go, well more than some. I can honestly say I would like to kick myself many times over in you know where :)
