Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

I am having a brain cramp about what kind of needleworked lace this is.  It is on a hand done netting with woven work, knotted work, two weights of thread and some stumpwork stitches.  I love it and it is a beautiful table runner.  Any suggestions or info?

I have none, but I must say its a beautiful piece. The handwork on that is so delicate looking, sort of like tatting but then again I am no pro.

That is sure beautiful lace and the links posted are fabulous. I can just keep going on and on but I doubt I can ever learn it all.

Thanks for your question and the following answer!

It is loads of information to review!

Hello

Your table runner is darned net lace, also called lacis.

Thank you all for your help. I am going to look up more on darned net lace.

Hello Ladies and Girls,

I am new around here and i am so glad to find this group here. I love laces and collect them for the last 5 years.

Your lace is from Brazil, it's called "Fillet", made from women at northwest of Brazil only, (as for as i know).

I am brazilian as well, so please ladies bare with my english.

I live in the French Switzerland side which gives me the opportunity to go search for laces in France as well... i just love to do it, i guess that i am addicted to laces. :)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful and informative link, SecondLife. It will definitely help many of us.

I've just realized that there's is a crochet also called filet, which's a good reason for more research about it.

Thanks much.

Does anyone have an idea what kind of lace this is?  I am having trouble finding a name for it.  It is a '1920's' wedding dress I bought from an antique dealer.  It looks homemade and has no tags. Can anyone help?

Hi Sarah,

I am not sure, it looks like Point d'Alençon.
