Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

Someone just game me a huge box full of comic books. Many are vintage, the 80's at least, but some are older. I don't know much about comic books, so I've been trying to find a good page where I could find some info on them. Anybody know of one?

I would suggest checking with IAntiqueOnline.ning.com....they have a group they started there, and I keep getting notices for people adding to the discussion. Also, since they are an antique, collectibles, vintage sight they have a place there where you can ask for identification or help with an item too:)

Hope this helps you some. Have a Great Evening!:)

I used to work five years for Diamond Comics Distrubitors here in Maryland, Steve Geppi's largest distributor of comic books to retailers worldwide. They had a comic book museum onsite back then (now it moved to downtown) and let me tell you, it was neat. The "free comics" each week was a bonus, and soon I became a closet comic book junkie.

I never thought the new ones were worth anything but found out that certain NEWER (80s to now) comics are worth big money, as the first run sold out quickly, perhaps it was a story line or something where Batman died and the book had to go to second print. Sometimes a warehouse would damage or lose a box making the print run smaller and the book have to go to second print. It's all about supply and demand. Some special editions, promo, black and white editions, halloween editions, or low print runs may demand high demand. There are some comic book value guides out there in print, but honestly sometimes your best resources are looking them online to see what they are going for or talking to collectors. Auctions are representative of what people are currently paying.

I do want to tell you that grading is a huge thing. One little crease and it devalues the book. I've seen a near mint comic sent away and graded (a fee applied) but then sell for twenty times what it would have been worth had it not been graded. Here is a good guide when you need to decide what grade ie : what shape your comic book is in: http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-conditions.aspx

As for me, I'm still holding on to my XFiles signed comic books wherein I have every once since inception but they aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Why? I don't know.

I'm about ready to do what LieutenantCupcake seller did on Etsy and use mine to make bowls.
