This magnificent, rare set of French antique silver sewing tools is in an unusually nice leather case. The interior is lined with the original velvet and satin and it has the sweetest little lift up pin compartment that is hand embroidered on top with silk and gold threads. The silver tools include a pair of scissors, a thimble, needlecase, stiletto and bodkin. They are marked with the French boar's head hallmarks used in Paris for 800/1000 pure silver. There are also two mother of pearl silk winders and two tiny spools.
The silver on all of the tools is in excellent condition commensurate with its age. The scissors have intact points and cut beautifully. The thimble is in round with no holes or repairs and the interior is gilded. It's about an American size 9 (16 mm diameter opening). The winders have no chips or damage and the little spools have lovely patina and grain pattern. The case closes well with a push button clasp and has strong hinges. It measures 7 3/4" by 4".
