Tom and I were lucky enough to be given two tickets to the Antiques Road Show next weekend in Eugene Oregon. I'm wondering if any of my fellow Vintage Villagers have gone to the Roadshow...if so,…Continue

I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly. I have a brief story to share. Last weekend at an estate sale I bought a beat up old bear. There was the little old steiff button in the ear, but this bear is…Continue
Cobayley is a husband and wife team in their 60's. We have been in the Antiques and collectibles business for over 20 years. We used to travel and do a lot of shows and we kept 2 collective booths well stocked. In the late 1990's we found ebay and we converted to all auctions. We still do a show occasionally, but we really wanted to have a nice online shop. Ruby Lane was the most attractive and well organized website we had found. I have always loved "old" stuff. Aunts and Uncles were avid antique collectors in the midwest when there were still plenty of antiques to be found at barn sales and tag sales. Early on in our marriage I walked into an antique store while the children were across the street at a movie. The shop owner and myself hit it off right away and I went to work part time. It was the most valuable education anyone could ever receive in the antiques and collectibles business. Not only did I get a hands on education, I was lucky enough to be taught by a very knowledgeable Antique Dealer.
We still love to travel and a couple of times a year we hit the road and wander all over the northwest corner of the United States. We cannot pass up a Antique Mall or Shop without at least taking a quick look.

We are nesting...the move is complete. We feel at home in the "new digs" and are enjoying life on the beach. Well, almost on the beach. The beach is two blocks away. We have a great view and my daily walks are very rewarding both visually and spiritually.
Operating a business out of your home can sometimes become a complicated matter. People ask me all the…

Tom and I shop a lot of estate sales....I had never looked at the kitchen silverware drawers. I was more interested in those lovely sets of sterling and silverplated flatware. I love them and I love finding matches for my customers. I have received countless notes and letters telling me how thrilled a family was to be able to once again use mom's or grandma's silverware at the holiday dinner.
Then, a sharp liquidator pointed me into the kitchen. She said "you know, this stainless…

Suzy's Timeless Treasures said… Thanks, Carolyn! I have so many goodies to list, but my husband is bugging me now for my tax info since I'm feeling better. The thing I love about my RL shop is that I still make sales even when I am not working full time at it, it's been a good year so far.

Classy Glass said… ... Thank you for your kindeness. We can all of us, just do our best to please, as you do too, for your own shop is wonderful and a credit to Ruby Lane. x

Classy Glass said… ... Yes, I could not agree with you more. I love this site and all of Ruby Lane, who have made me feel very welcome. My main problem being that I am utterly useless with computers and so naviagting about is problematic for me as is also our tinme difference, but hey, I am sure not complaining. :-)

Gina's Fabulous Fancies said… Hi! I am new to The Vintage Village. I was told that you would be able to help me put a picture of myself and add a story as you have done. Yours is very nice and I enjoyed reading it. My page on TVV is Gina's Fabulous Fancies. I just added some new pictures and I think I forgot the proper symbol to put between my tags. Help?
Thank you, Virginia
