I have grown up with antiques and vintage around me as my parents owned a Mom & Pop antique shop beginning in California in the 1950's, then moving to the Midwest in the 70's. I fell in love with so many aspects of the shop. . . so, I was torn whether to venture into the family business or go out on my own. I left for college, earned high honors in Education, completed my Master's degree in Communication, then taught High School English, Speech, & Theater for 14 years. I absolutely LOVED teaching and coaching a state- and nationally-ranked Speech/Debate team. I truly knew nothing else.
During the last four years of my teaching, however, my health was in gradual decline, each year proving more and more illness. Although I finally have answers, thanks to The Mayo Clinic and The University of Kansas Medical Center, I need to live differently now.
So. . . what better way than to delve back into my roots and work from home! I gather my knowledge of vintage from my childhood, add to that a love of vintage clothing and theatrical costumes with my education, and together--with the help of my better half--we run Vanity Flair Vintage online.
Thank you for your love and support. Running an online store has kept me afloat with medical bills, and I am so happy to say I am now doing much better! (More about my changes in health in future blogs and in groups.)
In our free time, we love to experiment with new recipes, spend time with our family and friends, and venture off into unknown places to search for great vintage.
Thank you for visiting me on The Vintage Village.
