50s Circle Pins: Do They Have Special Meanings?

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 10:38am 1 Comment

The circle pin is a classic piece of jewelry that was particularly popular in the 1950's and 60's and often worn on a cardigan or blouse. There were apparently different stories about the pins and their significance. It was said that they had different meanings depending on the pin style and where it was worn. Here…

Retro Teen Beach Party Movies - Re create the Fashions and Learn Some Fun Facts

Bask in the summer glow and have some fun - but don't fall in the soup!

This week's theme is all about Beach Party Movies! Have you ever seen one?

Beach Party movies were popular in the 50s and 60s and were famous for their kitschy humor, summery fun music, and air of teenage rebellion. Most of the actors played independent, fun loving teenagers, even though they were really in their 20s. They were free to do whatever they want and live on their own terms in summer houses…

Poems, Clothing, Clotheslines

Clothing can be a form of self expression, like poetry

...but do the two ever cross?

Your favorite shirt, the jacket of your first boyfriend in high school, your first baby socks kept in a pretty box for safe keeping -- items of clothing travel with us throughout our lives, a silent, comfy companion. Do you ever feel this way? There are actually many odes and dedicated poetry to clothing that can be found if you just take a peek.

Ode…

Viv - I love Bonanzle! Not only is it easy, it's and incredibly friendly social network too. If you have listings anywhere else, it's easy to transport them over. No problems advertising your other sites either. There is no fee for listing (all members get a booth), everything stays until sold. Very small fvf, but they do need $ to run the site - and they run it well! Easy to set up shop to feed to goggle base & lots of tips & help to maximize your visibility. There are many people who use it as an adjunt to an etsy store or their own sites.

It's still growing. I see improvements in sales. Membership climbing by 2-300/day. More people are finding products by goggle than just going to any one site - but I think once they try BN they come back.

The vintage category is growing and your hats would be great additions. It's a general site so you can sell anything legal. Use any $ type you want. Even have local pick-ups. Can also hold live auctions in your booth by the integrated IM system & hold sales called Bonanzas at scheduled times which are advertised on the front Buy page.

I moved over from the totally dead OLA site - after leaving feebay it was hard for me to find the right place - so I stuck out a year on OLA - good learning experience & made lots of friends - most of whom are on BN and several have joined VV.

Now, etsy is still a better venue for handcrafts - my daughter has a store - candycornstudios - and does pretty well - but for things that don't turn over quickly, charges can add up - I think that discourages listing very many items.

BN is pretty much a can't loose site - try us out! My IDs are Dragonmum2, dragonmumtwo & dragonmumtoo (3 dift stores).
Take a look - most people really like what they see!

Hey Viv! Great hats!! I have a few I'm going to put in my Bonanzle store, but Have no idea how to describe them, charge for them, etc. Would you be willing to take a look at some photos & give me an opinion? That would be - when I get around to it after figuring out how things work around here. I finally got links to my pics, but now those minis....Hmmmm... Leslye

Hey, where are you on Staten Island? A friend of mine used to have a loft there. Do you work in the city?
