Being Sustainable ...

I think part of going 'green' is also about being sustainable.  I love buying second hand (retro, vintage) clothes but I also like crafting out of sustainable resources eg cards out of old (tearing off the front and reusing and revamping it), crochet (wool is sustainalbe), going to second hand stores and buying clothes that I can use the material in to create cushions, runners, table mats and jumpers that I can unpick to use the wool to felt etc) .... I also love antique furniture. Sustainable…See More

What is Lavender Loops Vintage Crochet ....

Working with wool is like therapy for the body and soul, keeping the hands busy occupies the mind and allows me to enjoy creating items with love, care and a smile on my face crafting beautiful pieces for others to enjoy.

Lavender Loops was set up by, me, Louise George as a means to celebrate vintage wool design, especially crochet. I started crocheting after I was taught by my Mum when I was a teenager. It's a craft that seems to be dying out and through Lavender Loops I want to revive the passion for handmade crochet and all things woollen.

My handmade crochet designs are inspired by a time when people made their own home comforts, sat by the fire and children played kiss chase and sang songs while skipping along with friends. I attempt to mix that vintage feel with a modern twist to produce timeless classics.
