The "Pedal Pusher"
I am working on making a small vintage container vegetable garden. So yesterday I headed to town for a whole list of errands. One of course was for flowers for the window boxes. Looking for blue trailing lobelia turned out to be a problem. It is always crazy to me what ends up being hard to find and takes you all over town. I headed to one store and was mumbling to myself (I do that a lot I am afraid ...old age I guess) and this nice lady said, "have you been to the "Pedal…

1000!
OK .... so what's in a number??
This was a major week at Etsy as my store sales hit that wonder number: 1000. I feel like that storybook turtle who finally crossed the finish line! Having started in 2008 it seems like a very long time in the making, and then it seems like a blink of an eye - all wrapped into one. So for sure this benchmark of retail sales causes me to pause and think. Read on

Vintage Postcards, Kansas, and Memorial Weekend
Have you ever had a great idea and then went crazy? Well, the upcoming weekend trip with my mom to attend her 65th high school reunion in Agra, Kansas sparked a "family roots" inspiration....and low and behold, I found a great little place to find KANSAS vintage postcards. I love them. I am going to put them into a family tree album I am creating, along with pictures of relatives, etc. I will be thinking of you all this weekend, but, as I go to decorate the family graves in the various…

Memorial weekend, Mom and Bonnie
It's Monday! What a great weekend. Big trip coming up, to Kansas!! I will be meeting a very nice lady, whom I met playing around with my hobby last year, Bonnie. Come to find out, she lives 1 hr away from my family's roots.....so, my mother's 65th high school reunion will be coupled with my meeting with Bonnie. I have a lovely Vintage Peach Crest, double crimp vase which I adore. Bonnie sold it to me. NO it's not for sale! it's in my personal collection of Vintage Fenton, but I do have…

Selling Vintage Sweaters, Milrank, Cuddle Knits, Designer Originals
Good Sunday evening. I really need to tell you about the Vintage Sweaters I found 1-2 weeks ago! Best quality, vintage designers, all in the USA, great condition, I am in love with all of them. Found in an Estate sale, from a lady with plenty of money so it seemed, she apparently had an eye for nice clothes. Her closets were lined with clothes spilling out into the bedroom bins. I selected 7 sweaters, all of them are a retro sweater-wearer's dream. Nice weight, versatile, vintage,…

Today, I welcome a son.
I found out last night my daughter is engaged. I am so happy today to add a son into the family. I need more children. While listening to my very smart and beautiful daughter, I realized she is happier than I've ever seen her. That makes me feel great. During the long conversation, I heard her say she wanted the china I have been saving all these years!! Haviland, Blue Garland. Even, will take a look at the wedding dress I have been saving all these years.....Finally, after hauling…

No Mid-Century Small Collectibles Estate sales today. Day off?
My full time work days are generally, Saturday and Sunday. The norm for me is to peruse the Estate sales early Saturday, clean and research later in the day, then list all the items on Sunday. Listing items such as Dynasty porcelain in Dalian pattern can take me all day because I adore each piece. I know, I know, time is money. I have never been concerned about the money aspects of my hobby, I only worry about what someone might adore, or need to finish a pattern or collection, a new…

Those wonderful serving dishes
Graduation is the next two weekends and here in our area everyone has a gathering. Some of my friends love to use vintage serving dishes for their get togethers. Using copper chafing dishes to serve food or large Pyrex bowls or corning design flat casseroles as they look so pretty on a buffet table. Yes, they are not as convenient as the picnic ware but they sure do make a beautiful statement. My family had a barbecue last week for Mother's Day and I so enjoyed using my lazy susan for…

Keepin the Wildflowers by Corning Ware
Well, after cleaning up my newest purchases to get them ready for putting back into society, I realized I had fallen in love with them. Corning Ware Wildflowers, 1 pt and 1 1/2 pt Menuettes, one handle I decided I really had been too cheap to buy new pans and didn't want teflon. It dawned on me, I had just what I needed, glassware for pennies on the dollar. Into the cupboard go the old but new to me, put back into service Corning Ovenware Wildflowers...You just can't beat the old tried…

The trip to town
I headed to town yeaterday. I live in a rural area where a trip to town usually means multi tasking. The reality is you never know what is on my schedule. I could head to one of the boxstores or the doctor or even the library. The real surprise yesterday was that I didn't go to Goodwill. That is unusual. I was searching the net for something today and came upon a string of conversation that started with information on a glass type. It jumped from that to "Don't tell me you found…

A special gift
Happy Mother's Day
I am lucky enough to have a mother-in-law who is a real treat to know.
I am sitting here remembering the day I was married and the stylish ladies who walked so proudly to their appointed seats with their mink collar shawls. Mom with her beige outfit and french twist that she had chosen so carefully. Mama with her red outfit and curled hair. Oh, how they must have fretted over just the right outfit. that day. Everyone wanted everything to be perfect and…

Merry Mother's Day, a time for reflection
Merry Mother's Day, to everyone, even the dads, who care for others, children and their relatives. Mother's Day is a day of reflection and heartfelt 'thank yous' seem to flow all day....my reflections of my mother started yesterday...while at an estate sale, seems like I visited a dozen estate sales--all day. All morning, I sifted through collectibles, archives of yesteryear, and history of a Mother's life. Each item I touched Oneida salad plates, Corning Ware Menuettes with the…

Rare Blooms in Las Vegas? Bearpaw Poppy at the Springs Preserve
So, this morning I decided to see what was deposited on my driveway--and it was a newspaper. Whoa, how cool is that? Really? An old fashioned newspaper? and one of the articles was very appealing to me and might be to others, so I decided to blog it out!! Apparently, almost exclusively grown in Clark County, Las Vegas, is the Bear paw Poppy. The Latin name is the, "Arcotomecon californica" and these little gems are protected as 'critically endangered". The 2 ft tall clusters have…

Vintage Fenton stays 'all wrapped up' in Las Vegas/Henderson
As I was icing down my lower back and hip areas from over-extending myself during a recent move, I felt kinda down. Here I was, with boxes still yet to unpack, my newly ordered shelving is at the big retail store staring with "W", my towels are not organized but intermingled blues with golds with greens with cheetah prints....the thought came to me, "some people would call this done". I do have a dilemma! Do I keep the Vintage Fenton Milk Glass, Fenton French Opalescent, Silver Crest…

New Blog Addy
Hello everyone. I am gonna try to keep this short as I could go on, and on with all the details, but here goes.....
I have a New Blog Addy. Due to circumstances my Blog of 3+ yrs has been disabled...gotta love Google, right? I was devastated as this past year I spent more time with it, did more with it, added pages over time, decorated, researched more about effective blogging, etc etc. What a rude awakening on Monday to sign in, and…

California Pottery, Lane & Co. Van Nuys ca1960s
I couldn't believe it! I had a buyer this week from Florida. She bought the large orange basin with black splatter. It is a beauty, but it did have 2 chips and 1 colored chip (which someone had try to conceal). I didn't know when I bought it that anyone besides me would be interested in it. Just when you think you know a little about collectibles....you get surprised--again! I have yet another California Pottery piece, which is marvelously a gem, is marked,Vintage Lane & Co. Van…

Whew. I'm moved. I'm tired.
Whoa. What a week this was. I thought -due to my over achievement to pack 1 month early- the move would go extremely smooth. Afterall, my new digs were only 7 miles apart.....Well, it did run smooth, it just ran on and on and on......I haven't unpacked any of my virtual store collections, but it is on my list. Thank goodness for labels. and bubble wrap. Both God sends. Whew. I am tired. More later in the week!
One quick mid-century piece to show off. Tulip Time Quarter…
