Change Over’s

Well the inevitable has just happened. Since Ruby Plaza decided to close its Plaza in December, I found myself shivering & shaking in my boots. I put a lot of time and effort in adding my vintage fashions. It wasn’t easy at the time going to work and then cooking the dinner, cleaning the house, etc. etc. to list. I was bone tired but I wanted to make a go of my new passion “Vintage Clothing” for woman. I love the styles the colors and all that vintage fashions…

I had come across a very different looking bowl while at an estate sale this month.   I had no idea what I was looking for when I spotted a table loaded with tons of old kitchen dishes.  MY KIND OF TABLE.  I digress.......all other people were quickly moving through the items which were in plain site; me, on the other hand as slow as molasses in the wintertime, took my time to belly up to the table and methodically placed my purse on one side of the pile of bowls I wanted to look through.…

Is it me, or is truly authentic Vintage getting harder to find this year? Is it my area? The last couple of estate sales I have ventured out to have dollar store merchandise and knick knacks from Woolworth. Not saying it is cute, but nothing exciting. If vintage is available, it is priced so high it knocks my socks off....well, my sandals...I don't wear socks in Las Vegas (Henderson) in the summer!    I was invited to a fashion show today that was put on by the Billings Chico Store and a club I belong to.  It was to be held two doors down at the wine shop.  Free glass of wine, ice tea and pretzels. Of course you know what I chose!  It was a very interesting show with Chicos explaining what is in this year as well as how to look  slim in  the clothes.  Bright colors especially large prints with many different colors.  Long  dresses to the ankle that could have leopard or zebra…

For some of us I truly think that vintage is in the bone.  Two stories to illustrate.





When I was a boy, my Dad would take me to work with him on Saturdays. He worked for a construction company, and many Saturdays were spent at the "shop", the offices, repair shops, and storage area for the construction company. 





The storage yard was filled with old trucks of every description, as well as old transport…

              My son and his wife are avid recyclers.  They cook naturally leaving chemicals behind.  Their beliefs are a good thing for our earth but I do give them a tenative  smile when they speak of how my generation and those before me have not cared for the earth.  When they say we haven't been proactive enough in past years they do get my dander up a bit.

               The reality is, I believe, we have worked to save the earth individually.  I believe, each of us…

Hello...ya know,  this is what I remember about May:

1)   I moved across town.

2)  It was Mother's Day one day, but I can't remember cause I didn't celebrate it.. Oh yeah, I took myself out to breakfast.

2)  I met my mother in Denver, and we flew to Hays, Kansas in a 16 person propeller airplane...went to her 65th high school reunion in Agra, Kansas.  Ate chicken.  Saw lots of old people and I felt really young.

3)  Swore off flying in propeller airplanes…
