Where Vintage Never Gets Old...

July 2009 Blog Posts (22)

Oh, happy day!

I have a box of STUFF under my bed. Who doesn't, right? Stuff that doesn't have a home and which we have not decided what its destiny is to be? Stuff that we love but don't have room for? Stuff that MIGHT be valuable, but we just don't know, because we can't find any information on it or anyone to help us figure that out?

Well, my STUFF has new hope! I just happened to be reading a community email list this morning and came across someone's post about having estate china that they… Continue

Huuuuuuuuuge antique calendar posted for this weekend!

Among the most "wish I could be there" moments are the International Antique Lamp show in Louisville, the Stoystown Antique Tractor Festival in Pennsylvania, and the Asheville Antique Fair in North Carolina.

Love that town. I bought a mint pair of Willie Nelson jeans at a vintage shop there once. Then I hemmed them too short and ended up having to sell them on the auction site which shall remain nameless.

Visit our calendar and see if there's something going on near… Continue

M.I.A.

I've been lazy for awhile in keeping up with my online accounts. Haven't sold anything lately, but my inactivity hasn't gone in vain. I've been sewing a lot lately, Lolita dress projects for meet-ups on LiveJournal. Just this weekend was Comic-Con and I was practically murdering myself over creating a dress I wanted to wear for it...Sadly, I didn't accomplish it T_T I still wore some fun outfits, but now, once I finish that damn dress, I'm going to wear it EVERYWHERE!!! >.< I just worked… Continue

Sweater Clips: Pretty and Fun to Wear

Ok - I admit it. I'm a bit clip happy these days with vintage sweater clips (aka sweater guards). These little beauties are an easy collectible and fun to wear on a shirt, sweater, hat or pocket. I've even piled up a few and worn them together in a layered look.

This morning I took pictures of the latest batch to come in and found this sweet one.

I can see this with a cute sweater set or on a beret or even clipped to a… Continue

A MUST SEE Blog Site If you Love Vintage, Decorating, Ideas, Roses, Food, Shabby Chic, Etc., Etc.!

I was looking for a lady I used to watch on eBay who I finally found on Etsy now, who had this blog site as one of her favorites. I was intrigued by the name so I went on a visit. Her blog is called "Rosy Inspiration" and she is from Australia. See her here: "Rosy Inspiration If you haven't seen her blog I highly recommend you go visit. I spent the whole afternoon (and shouldn't have grrr,) going through every post she had. She has the… Continue

End of Vacation...

It's sad coming home. I've loved being in the mountains, even if I've had to take a couple days off to rest from all the activity. Next year, we're going to do 2 weeks instead of one. There's just too much to do in one week - and when you really just start to relax on Weds, and Sat you have to start packing to leave, one week just doesn't cut it.

If you get a chance to stay in the NC mountains, I can't recommend the area around Franklin, Cashiers & Sapphire… Continue

Vintage Scarves - So light - So lovely - So easy to wear

Looking over my favorite vintage scarves the other day I was struck by how many I have (eek, thank goodness they fold up small) and by how much I enjoy wearing them. Right now it's warm out so I'm enjoying scarves as a last minute "add a touch of color" accessory either tied on to my straw bag or tucked into a pocket. I'm also doing the Grace Kelly head scarf look in the evening.

Scarves are such… Continue

Captured Brownie Fairy

An antique bronze clock bezel and glass were just begging for something fun to be placed inside. My friend and I were out antiquing one day and we found two little Brownie Fairies. We both wanted them, so we compromised, each of us got one. He's wearing the funniest clothes, complete with a FEZ hat! On his belt I've attached an old watch gear. Behind are lovely filigree brass wings, to help him flit around, doing his best to cause mischief! Little… Continue

Been away

Hi everyone--sorry to have been "missing in action" for so long. We have been out of town, so between getting ready to leave, being gone, then cleaning up the mess, it has been a while since I have been here.
I will be going back through announcements, posts, etc., soon, to see what I have missed!

Making art dolls without all the sewing!

Making art dolls is just fun! Sewing the little arms and legs, turning them, ironing them~I can live without that! Embellishing, dressing, making faces, hats, wings: that's where the fun starts. Turning the long legs is pure torture. I do it because I want to make dolls.

A wonderful woman that loves to sew has agreed to make some body blanks for me. She does the cutting, sewing and turning, mails them to me and I get to stuff, paint… Continue

The Laundry Room

My laundry room is in desperate need of a makeover... and I do mean desperate! We live in an old house from the 1920s (which I love dearly), but the basement is a bit dark and dreary. It's not at the top of our priorities right now, since we're starting on another renovation project in a different part of the house. But... that doesn't keep me from looking for ideas for when we do have time to overhaul it......read more on our… Continue
