Amazing video...
I am awestruck each time I watch this lady...part of the fascination I hold for lace is the incredible talent that it takes to create it! I read that at one time in history lace was so coveted that folks would mortgage their estate to own it! Amazing!

The Learning Curve
I started this week stepping into the abyss of no-man's land. Remember the book or the movie "the man without a country" Well, I started this week feeling like "a woman without a link, a pin or a face". Modern technology has a way of taking the "country" out of the person. One definitely feels alone and lost. I am taking some liberties with the short story by Edward Everett Hale. The story still sticks with me since reading it in high school. The main character…

Busy times , crinkles and smiles
My days lately have been hectic. My combination washer dryer decided to spring a leak and I had a flood in my laundry room. So off I went and purchased two separate appliances. Washed my first load and the door did not lock and I had a second flood and then a third. I also am having some building done as well. I only tell you this to explain my not having opened my precious finds I brought home from the thrift shop days ago.
Finally today I picked up…

Those entertaining pickers
I love watching the American pickers. I, like the rest of you am into vintage and antiques. So watching them buy items is just fun. I don't think that is the only reason I like watching, I love learning the history lessons that come with their picking. I learn so much. The reality of my life means I may have 30 dollars in my pocket when I head to garage sales and could never offer someone $3,000.00 for 2 old bicycle wheels. Their unlimited cash astounds me and makes me wonder…

It's hot here in Las Vegas
Whew and Wow, it's hot in the Las Vegas valley this week. Pretty normal though. While at the post office yesterday mailing a Priority package to a buyer, I met a very nice lady and we talked for quite a while....in the shade.....we were comparing heat indexes. My idea of hot in the car was when my fingertips burned when I put my hands on the steering wheel of my car....her idea of hot was when people stopped moving around. I showed her my fingertips...she offered hand lotion to me, being…

Remembering the red, white and blue
Today's the day! Happy Fourth of July!
We think of the red, white and blue today.
We think of flags unfurled and stars and stripes
Fireworks and parades and marching bands
Barbecues of hot dogs, hamburgers and apple pie
Family and friends gathering in honor of friendship and country
We hold in our heart and mind the belief in a…
