"Hello, my name is Vintage Shari and I'm a Jewelryholic."
I was recently forced to deal with the daunting task of trying to reorganize approximately 600 pieces of jewelry stock. Our Ruby Lane sister shop closed and just like in real life, while I sometimes found her demanding, I didn’t know how much I loved her until she was gone. I was going through drawer after drawer, sitting on the floor. Oh, good god, there’s more…

Shopping was never easier...repeat customers...virtual mom and pop
Shopping was never easier than this year! Holidays can drag on and on and on, starting with the onset of Fall, way back in September! Just one trip to the big box store on October 30, the day before Halloween, was confusing at best. Displays had Christmas and Halloween together, and even had clearance sale shopping carts with Halloween things in them, the day BEFORE Halloween! I don't know when the "shopping" time changed....I thought it waited until at LEAST November 1..?
But…

Busy Busy Busy like a Chipmunk getting ready for Winter
Speaking of Chipmunks...I saw one today!! That might not be surprising for most viewers, but in Las Vegas? in the desert? Yep, as I was pulling out of the driveway, the cutest little chipmunk scurried across the road...I thought, "It's been at least 10 years since I've seen a chipmunk, I wonder what he's doin here?" Then it occurred to me, he probably snuck away in someone's vehicle while camping or picnicking and fell out when they stopped. Poor little guy....he'll soon be up a creek…

I Love Lucy
That's all. I Love Lucy. Have you ever wondered why no matter how many times you watch it, it remains funny? I Love Lucy. Maybe it is because of the Vintage outfits, or the jewelry, or the complete pattern of china Lucy uses, every year. Has anyone noticed? Her china pattern is all white with grape ivy. It is on all the dishes, and even the double vase on a shelf by her window....she packed it up and took it to the country house too. I have never figured it out, but boy would I love…

Well, ever try to go to garage sales with a boot on your foot? and did I mention the stent on my middle finger?
Today was a very different experience. I was so bored sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I went poking around the garage sales....on my way to CVS for an anti-inflammatory....a 11 minute ride to the pharmacy took me, uuuhhhmmm, about 3 hours. You would think I would have had plenty of time to visit scores of sales....but actually, I went to 2~ TWO. Yep, just TWO. By the time I left the first one, I had been there 1 1/2 hrs. If you ever go to a garage sale, on a Friday~~folks are…

My toe still hurts, but it feels better when...............
Well, the doctor says I fractured my toe or jammed it so well it could be broke. Same fix: sit around. So, I guess I can do that.....and one thing I know for sure, I do need to reassess my type A behavior when attempting to walk down stairs while clicking the phone over to a new line...one conversation is enough, but two at the same time? what was I thinking anyway? BUT what I wanted to blog about was~while I am sitting around healing my toe~I have been utilizing TVV more and more! My…

Chatty Cathy on the Line
Remember the doll, Chatty Cathy. To be honest I don’t remember the doll much. I guess I am to old for that. I remember the Toni doll. Boy, does that age me! But it is amazing how the name “Chatty Cathy” has become a phrase people have used in conversations. Man, she is a “Chatty Cathy” , she never stops talking people would say. Or when my granddaughter is excited she becomes a “motor mouth” and I will say, “gee, you sure are a “Chatty Cathy” today. Often she will tilt her head and…

Is today Thursday?
I can't believe it is Thursday. Actually, I had to check myself and look at the calendar. Where did the week go? I've been so busy rearranging my store- BWs Vintage Collectibles on Ebay, changing themes and colors, not to mention adding more items for the holiday season coming upon us all. I have had several VV members "like" me on Facebook, I am extremely grateful!! I have been directing traffic to the site, but seems our generation of baby boomers are slow to try this site....I'd say…

"Staybor Weekend Sale" for those of us who choose to stay home Labor Day Weekend!!
Yep, the dog days of summer are finally here in Henderson, NV. It rained for 12 hours the other day.....a first for our valley (Las Vegas). We had water everywhere. The next day out, there was dirt and rock all over the roads. It was nice to see, nice to stand in, a pure joy to us here in the desert. The countdown to Labor Day weekend is here already, can you believe it? And with that thought, my Labor Day Weekend discount sale on all dinnerware starting this evening and runs through…

The Learning Curve
I started this week stepping into the abyss of no-man's land. Remember the book or the movie "the man without a country" Well, I started this week feeling like "a woman without a link, a pin or a face". Modern technology has a way of taking the "country" out of the person. One definitely feels alone and lost. I am taking some liberties with the short story by Edward Everett Hale. The story still sticks with me since reading it in high school. The main character…

Vintage is hard to find this summer! or is it me? Am I expecting too much?
Is it me, or is truly authentic Vintage getting harder to find this year? Is it my area? The last couple of estate sales I have ventured out to have dollar store merchandise and knick knacks from Woolworth. Not saying it is cute, but nothing exciting. If vintage is available, it is priced so high it knocks my socks off....well, my sandals...I don't wear socks in Las Vegas (Henderson) in the summer! Something has just got to change....I am running in circles and NUTHIN. One or two things is…

Why I love vintage - it's in the bone
For some of us I truly think that vintage is in the bone. Two stories to illustrate.
When I was a boy, my Dad would take me to work with him on Saturdays. He worked for a construction company, and many Saturdays were spent at the "shop", the offices, repair shops, and storage area for the construction company.
The storage yard was filled with old trucks of every description, as well as old transport…

June? really? what happened to May?
Hello...ya know, this is what I remember about May:
1) I moved across town.
2) It was Mother's Day one day, but I can't remember cause I didn't celebrate it.. Oh yeah, I took myself out to breakfast.
2) I met my mother in Denver, and we flew to Hays, Kansas in a 16 person propeller airplane...went to her 65th high school reunion in Agra, Kansas. Ate chicken. Saw lots of old people and I felt really young.
3) Swore off flying in propeller airplanes…

Selling Vintage Sweaters, Milrank, Cuddle Knits, Designer Originals
Good Sunday evening. I really need to tell you about the Vintage Sweaters I found 1-2 weeks ago! Best quality, vintage designers, all in the USA, great condition, I am in love with all of them. Found in an Estate sale, from a lady with plenty of money so it seemed, she apparently had an eye for nice clothes. Her closets were lined with clothes spilling out into the bedroom bins. I selected 7 sweaters, all of them are a retro sweater-wearer's dream. Nice weight, versatile, vintage,…

Vintage Fenton stays 'all wrapped up' in Las Vegas/Henderson
As I was icing down my lower back and hip areas from over-extending myself during a recent move, I felt kinda down. Here I was, with boxes still yet to unpack, my newly ordered shelving is at the big retail store staring with "W", my towels are not organized but intermingled blues with golds with greens with cheetah prints....the thought came to me, "some people would call this done". I do have a dilemma! Do I keep the Vintage Fenton Milk Glass, Fenton French Opalescent, Silver Crest…

Sunday: My blog about my Kleptomaniac toy poodle
By now, you may know I am in the process of moving towards the city. My livingroom is full of boxes full of Vintage and Mid-century dinnerware such as Oneida, Rosenthal, Corelle, ets. and I keep adding to them! and then rearranging them, readjusting them....I (turns out) am not the only one in my family with anxiety problems about the move--Peaches, my toy poodle, has anxiety only she can figure out. As the boxes pile up and my attention is taken off my doggies and onto the move, I…

The weekend is here already?
Did this week go by fast or what? The moving boxes are crowding my living room, I never realized how BIG small collectibles can get once they are wrapped with bubble wrap! Oneida Majesticware, Rosenthal Krister, Vintage Fenton, Corelle Callaway or Quilted Hearts dinner plates, Cherished Teddies.....all of it needs to be wrapped. How fast a 20" x 20" x 16" can fill up! ....I have been to the store seems like a million trips today. Originally, I was going to…
