Attachments, Selling a friend

I was reading a fascinating string in vintage clothing where people were sharing about why they like what they collect. One collector /seller spoke of how she should start selling something she has but could not bring herself to.    I thought I would share something about attachment.  I love anything vintage so I have lots  of different type items at home and in my shop.  Last night I came home at 11pm to find an order for 7 items from one person.  Yipee!   But the strangest thing is…

Why I love vintage - it's in the bone

For some of us I truly think that vintage is in the bone.  Two stories to illustrate.

When I was a boy, my Dad would take me to work with him on Saturdays. He worked for a construction company, and many Saturdays were spent at the "shop", the offices, repair shops, and storage area for the construction company.

The storage yard was filled with old trucks of every description, as well as old transport…

The trip to town

I headed to town yeaterday.  I live in a rural area where a trip to town usually means multi tasking.  The reality is you never know what is on my schedule.  I could head to one of the boxstores or the doctor or even the library.  The real surprise yesterday was that I didn't go to Goodwill.  That is unusual.  I was searching the net for something today and came upon a string of conversation that started with information on a glass type.  It jumped from that to "Don't tell me you found…

Mother's Day For A Special Mother

My mother is no longer with us but will live in my heart forever. She passed away September 9, 2008 at the age of 87. She had suffered from dementia with lewy bodies. Her happiness was her home, being surrounded by her "pretties" and her privacy. This disease took that away from her.

My mother's greatest gift was her unconditional love for my brother, sister and…

Buttons, buttons, buttons...

For years I have collected jars of buttons from estate sales. Going through the jars of buttons is like digging for treasure! When I was a child my mom had a large tin filled with buttons. My sisters and friends would spend rainy days sorting them and stringing them into beautiful necklaces and bracelets. Wonderful memories created from simple objects. That is why I cannot pass by a jar or bag of buttons, without wanting to spill them out and look them over. I have posted a few pictures of our… Continue

Russel Wright Dinnerware American Modern 1939 - 1959

Would someone please explain to me why I haven't been active in this community since Christmas. I guess it has something to do with sick kids, major surgery and going back to work part-time. But I'm back in action, part-time anyway, and wanted to share with you some pictures of my Russel Wright collection. I blogged about it a couple of months ago and I'm sure my friends at Vintage Village will get a… Continue

Life in the Land of Vintage - I Must COLLECT Myself!

Someone dear recently asked that I provide a bio so that they can write a feature on my shop in an upcoming blog. Write about me? ICK! It's easy to write about my, shall we say....unconventional... life as a kid since it's almost like remembering someone else...but current day??? YUK!

Anyway, while I was arduously typing and deleting, typing and deleting, it occurred to me that my collections probably tell more about me than most of the boring stuff I can drudge up and commit to… Continue
