Change Over's

Change Over’s

Well the inevitable has just happened. Since Ruby Plaza decided to close its Plaza in December, I found myself shivering & shaking in my boots. I put a lot of time and effort in adding my vintage fashions. It wasn’t easy at the time going to work and then cooking the dinner, cleaning the house, etc. etc. to list. I was bone tired but I wanted to make a go of my new passion “Vintage Clothing” for woman. I love the styles the colors and all that vintage fashions…

1000!

OK .... so what's in a number??

This was a major week at Etsy as my store sales hit that wonder number: 1000.  I feel like that storybook turtle who finally crossed the finish line!  Having started in 2008 it seems like a very long time in the making, and then it seems like a blink of an eye - all wrapped into one.  So for sure this benchmark of retail sales causes me to pause and think.  Read on

Come Travel with Me!

I love purchasing items from estates where the people were travelers.    And this is especially true of vintage jewelry!  When women travel, we buy jewelry!

I've put together a small collection of vintage jewelry that all came from one estate.  Can you guess the regions she traveled to without reading?

YippeeKa-yeeKa-yaaa

I awoke this morning to sale 700 on Etsy!  Wow.... I am ecstatic!  I am especially feeling thankful to all my Etsy customers, all the great Treasury artists that selected my photos and products, and the great Photo Gallery here at the Vintage Village!   All have helped to make that number happen!

For the past month, I've noticed a huge increase in the activity and actual sale level at my Etsy shop and I'm seriously re-thinking my policies!  KISS is a great principle!  And I…

Wake Up and Make The Coffee By J.Petroff http://ramonasvintageapplianceforum.wordpress.com/

Upcycled Vintage Percolator Lamp by AwesomeZone4000 on Etsy. I can't function in the morning without coffee. I get up early - before 5:00. It's dark, it's quiet, no one is up but me.

I make my way straight to the coffee maker then on to the internet. I write, I look and drink some more coffee. I'm awake, I'm alive and I'm ready to move on to my life.

So you don't drink coffee? Well great for you!

This week, I'll do some posts on Vintage Coffee Makers.… Continue

Retro Teen Beach Party Movies - Re create the Fashions and Learn Some Fun Facts

Bask in the summer glow and have some fun - but don't fall in the soup!

This week's theme is all about Beach Party Movies! Have you ever seen one?

Beach Party movies were popular in the 50s and 60s and were famous for their kitschy humor, summery fun music, and air of teenage rebellion. Most of the actors played independent, fun loving teenagers, even though they were really in their 20s. They were free to do whatever they want and live on their own terms in summer houses…

Etsy Treasury Screen Shots

To take a screen shot of a mosaic or treasury (or most unprotected media), I use Aviary from Google (free plus free online imaging tools). I like to save the mosaic (created using Etsy's poster sketch) to my desktop. I haven't gotten around to using Aviary's image hosting or suite of image editing tools. I just edit with my MS Office Picture Manager and MS Paint. I use Aviary with my Foxfire browser.… Continue

Autumn in Bloom

The high today is a mere 50 degrees. Warmer than some areas, cooler than others. For us, it is the typical Fall weather. A colorful assortment of reds, yellows and oranges blossoming in their own rite in every direction. I am a gardener by hobby and like others thoroughly enjoy the Spring season and all it’s offering of home grown bounty. But, unlike some I know, I enjoy the blossoms of Fall just as much and perhaps even more so. I realize that the assortment of shapes and sizes admired in… Continue
