Fenton Glasswork's Last Days

My husband and I were on our way south at the end of December when I saw that we were going to be passing very close to the Fenton Glass Factory in Williamstown, West Virginia.  When we got closer I saw the signs advertising…

It's hot here in Las Vegas

Whew and Wow, it's hot in the Las Vegas valley this week. Pretty normal though.  While at the post office yesterday mailing a Priority package to a buyer, I met a very nice lady and we talked for quite a while....in the shade.....we were comparing heat indexes.  My idea of hot in the car was when my fingertips burned when I put my hands on the steering wheel of my car....her idea of hot was when people stopped moving around.  I showed her my fingertips...she offered hand lotion to me, being…

Oyster and Pearl Anchor Hocking Depression Glass ca1938-40

I had come across a very different looking bowl while at an estate sale this month.   I had no idea what I was looking for when I spotted a table loaded with tons of old kitchen dishes.  MY KIND OF TABLE.  I digress.......all other people were quickly moving through the items which were in plain site; me, on the other hand as slow as molasses in the wintertime, took my time to belly up to the table and methodically placed my purse on one side of the pile of bowls I wanted to look through.…

Glass Glorious Glass Part 1: Depression, Elegant and Art Deco Glass

Hello,

my name is Cheri and I am a Glassaholic!

:)

I loooove gorgeous glassware, especially early 20th Century Glass ( and am also rather partial to the marvelous Mid Century Modern Glass...but that is for another day)

Here is a short synopsis on Depression, Elegant and Art Deco Glass that I wrote some years back for my original Alma's Attic Blog

Depression Glass:

The term…

Hazel Atlas Criss-Cross mixing bowls!

I saw these on Saturday and didn't buy them, because I couldn't believe they were the Real Deal. After doing a bit of research I went back today and bought them (pics are just of the larger bowl - 9.5" - there's also a smaller one, 8.5".) Apparently they are the genuine article, and other than a couple of mfg. flaws they're in beautiful…
