Hi, all.
I have opened a new shop for my vintage and antiques on Etsy! You can find it here. This is not meant to replace my original shop, but simply to expand my reach. Best of show at the DC Big Flea
My assistant photographer Colleen Young, attended the event with me so we could
both tally the points of the booths we attended.
The lines to attend this show was huge, so, I do believe the DC Big Flea event can prove that the market for antiques to vintage is still as strong as…

"Hello, my name is Vintage Shari and I'm a Jewelryholic."
"Hello, my name is Vintage Shari and I'm a Jewelryholic."
I was recently forced to deal with the daunting task of trying to reorganize approximately 600 pieces of jewelry stock. Our Ruby Lane sister shop closed and just like in real life, while I sometimes found her demanding, I didn’t know how much I loved her until she was gone. I was going through drawer after drawer, sitting on the floor. Oh, good god, there’s more…

The auctioneer's wife who wanted the christmas dishes
I usually do not post that many blogs to Ruby Lane, but, the other day, I happened upon a dear little creamer with holly and it reminded me of this auction.
Hope you enjoy the story and much as I enjoyed telling it,
best wishes, Linda

Vintage Costume Jewelry
Came across this interesting article on vintage costume jewelry:
The term “costume jewelry” was coined in the 1920s, but jewelry and ornamentation made out of non-precious materials have been worn since ancient times. While it is sometimes labeled as “junk,” “fake,” or "fashion" jewelry, costume…

How Big is that Really?
When it comes to photographing vintage costume jewelry size can really loose perspective easily. The eye gets so focused on showing off the pin that we tend to neglect the perspective of size to the viewer. A picture on a smooth surface has nothing for comparison.
I spent some time looking at my big vintage pins this past week in their first display and went ... "no one can tell how big they are!" For me that is the whole sha-bang for vintage pins: big, oversized and…

Vintage Las Vegas! Toy Shack Opens in Las Vegas!! Fremont Street Experience.
While watching the local news this evening as to the various places Mr. President Obama was going to visit while here in LV, I looked at my twitter happenings.....the Thrifting Boys sent out a plug for a new Toy Shack opened I guess in September. Downtown as locals call it, Fremont Street as others might describe it.
Vintage Las Vegas, the old strip, Fremont Street Experience, is now covered and is walk-along only.....Lots of LED lights overhead shine to the beat of manic…

Fun site I found
On the lighter side....I found this site in my travels this month. I love it,
It gives me perspective, Its why we do what we do. I can't wait to have down time to post photos here. When I divorced
most was left behind and our new home is decorated with mostly vintage and market finds. Very little is new. When I tell people I bought a 40 year old mobile home, when they visit.....they are very surprised. Its a double with lots of room and we made it our own...... so check this…
