Hi Guys! and new people I don't know too! I've been away for quite a while. Lots of the chaos in my life is clearing up. Mom died in October, which was certainly a mixed blessing. Our smaller family is re-equilibrating pretty well.
Nik & I have continued our hunting adventures over the last several months, although at a slower rate. I'm organizing to get back to selling; I'm excited to hear VV is now a venue!! We've wandered into new territories, including pocket watches &…

Thanks again for all of you who've been so supportive. Thought I'd let those of you who might be interested what I've been doing lately - or not doing, as the case may be....
I've been hunkered down for awhile, working on life chaos. Overwhelmed. Pretty isolated too. Got to feeling sorry for myself. Blah blah blah.... I'm not sure if life is calming down or if I'm just adapting - but I feel like I can start interacting with some of my little corners of the world - mostly on line,…

I'd like to give a huge Thank You to all of you who've been so supportive over the last few months. My Mom's in home hospice care & it's still rough at home, but we've settle into a routine. I haven't been around much; I hurt my back (again...duh) and have been dealing with a lot of nerve pain that is also subsiding. Yay!! Even managed to get a week of vacation down to Ft Meyers Beach.
On the vintage front, I have a wonderful collection of vintage hats, ties, jewelry & more…

Thanks to all of you who offered your prayers and thoughts for my Mom. Something must be going well because this weekend she was back to her self with an appetite and good color. My Dad has more help in and gotten the hang of the Hoyer lift they have to use to transfer Mom (she can't even stand well & she's a big lady).
I've arranged for my daughter to fly home from law school in New York for the weekend before T'giving just to be be sure she sees Mom before something happens. My…

Please see the feed from my wordpress blog. My Mom's dying & I still won't be around much - but I'll try to keep giving updates. I've given up on much new selling for this holiday season. Somethings are just more important. Leslye

It's that time of year. Since I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire, if I don't start getting my inventory stocked with Christmas Goodies & Toys for the kids NOW, I'll be dragging around until November. I'm really looking forward to this Christmas selling season.
I've got some great vintage Christmas collectibles. See the Taylor, Smith Taylor Holiday Wreath Pattern Plates (I have a set of 4) & Spaghetti Hair Santa Bank in my top photos
I also sell toys in my "fun"…

I've grown so used to thinking of vintage ties as those large ugly creatures from the early 70s. Or the rather boring mid 60s sort. Boy, have I been surprised lately! I've come across some beauties from the 1950s - those guys had good taste...

Even the 70s and 80s had some lovely ties! These tended to…

It's sad coming home. I've loved being in the mountains, even if I've had to take a couple days off to rest from all the activity. Next year, we're going to do 2 weeks instead of one. There's just too much to do in one week - and when you really just start to relax on Weds, and Sat you have to start packing to leave, one week just doesn't cut it.
If you get a chance to stay in the NC mountains, I can't recommend the area around Franklin, Cashiers & Sapphire…

Over the weekend, I had planned to help my daughter sell her lovely gamer dice jewelry and hand crafted t-shirts at the local anime (read geek geeek geeeeek) convention, Animazement. Here's a photo of her booth - and her making that "MOOOOMMMM stop! You're such a...." face.

After a half day yesterday, it became blindingly clear that I just wasn't up to it. So what to do with myself? Except sit on my heating pad and take tylenol the rest of the weekend,…

My house has been invaded by Trolls!! Dam Trolls to be specific (it's a Danish name pronounced "Dom") I don't have photos yet but as soon as I do - you'll get to see them. Really, just keeping track of these things is a full time job!! I have 15 (yeah, count 'em, 15!) 9 inch 1977 original Thomas Dam trolls made in Denmark....not to mention the middle sized and small ones....Classics - Lady Gwyn, Poodle skirt twins, lady troll with hair rollers, clown....it goes on.... Since Nik found them, I've…

I've always associated Bow Ties with absent-minded professors. Chapel Hill is crawling with these lovable but often frustrating men. Sometimes I get lucky; someone cleans out Grandma & Grandpa's closets. All sorts of goodies find their way to our local thrift shops. I stumbled on this bunch of ties the day they were putting out scads of things from a prof's house. Here are a few of these vintage goodies from my Bonanzle store

I wasn't feeling great yesterday, so I spent my time making a "hand-picked list" on Bonanzle instead of doing something productive, like listing stuff... My list isn't all vintage but I think it's pretty sweet! I've called it "
Swinging through Summer" - check it out if you have time!
I'm one of those compulsive crafty hoarder types & I've accumulated more stuff from my mother and grandmothers...and aunt.... One of my…

I've mostly been laying around trying to behave myself. Had my appendix out 2 weeks ago & it wasn't the easy kind. I seem to not be able to grasp (I mean really cognitively!) how debilitated I am.... I'll feel better tomorrow, and then - oopps - she's down again!! I don't have any nerves where they made the incision in the midline of my belly from some cancer reconstruction several years ago. [OK tmi. SRY] So I don't have that nice little warning sign - otherwise known as PAIN!- to tell me…

I spent some time today rooting through my collection to find more marks. Took lots of photos. Realized that I've got quite a few artisan marks & marks from companies I've never heard of. So I'll also be asking for feedback from any of you with more experience or who have just happened to run across that maker.

Here's a Sandor mark that came on this sweet enamel flower - a delightful surprise!…

I noticed there are people who would like to see more jewelry ID marks or siggies. I've got a nice collection, and right now I'll list the ones I already have photos for. There are bunches more, and then I'll eventually go on to china & pottery marks - what they look like in the realy world!!.
On my other blog,
Brain Damage in the Fast Lane, I will be posting Fabric Identification information. Burn testing directions AND pictures -…
