I love watching the American pickers. I, like the rest of you am into vintage and antiques. So watching them buy items is just fun. I don't think that is the only reason I like watching, I love learning the history lessons that come with their picking. I learn so much. The reality of my life means I may have 30 dollars in my pocket when I head to garage sales and could never offer someone $3,000.00 for 2 old bicycle wheels. Their unlimited cash astounds me and makes me wonder how much they have to sell to make ends meet. It also amazes me how much knowledge they have and how Mike can just recall things. Dave just explained that they have been picking for 20 years. I guess that is a long time to gather information. I wish I could know how they know what is hot to buy. Is it word of mouth or sales in their shop? I realize they can take time lapses and work them in the editing to make these pickers sound very intelligent but they still are very quick to recall facts. Obviously they aren't as old as some of us.
I guess I would have to say that watching Mike and Dave and their friendship is my favorite part of the show. Their regard for each other is so refreshing That friendship is such a gift. .They feed off of each other and that is so entertaining. The humor is wonderful and they always make me chuckle. I love their gift of play. They find an air gun game and suddenly they are playing with it. To see the USA traveling from spot to spot for vintage would be so interesting. I wish I had my own sidekick who was willing to come along with me. Any takers?
