Dog House Shaped Frame with Attachment

  • This is an unusual iconographic frame in the shape of a dog house. It is embellished with a collar and chain. At the bottom of the frame is "At the Sign of the Bull Dog." It includes a photo of a bull dog. This may have been an advertising piece, as the John Merriam Company in NY that made cigars used the same phrase on their trays and other advertising pieces.

The frame has glass, a dust cover on the back, with a wire for hanging. These types of frames with attachments are sometimes referred to as iconographic.

Size: The frame measures approximately 9" tall and 8 1/2" wide. The opening in the back measures approximately 5" by 4 1/2".
